Campus Housing: Living on campus is useful because you are so close to the library and your classes but the space is small in a triple and the bathrooms can get gross. but you meet people, except our RA is not very good and hasnt had any events for us.

Greek Life: Although greeks do do community service and help the community you don't hear about what the do except throw parties and socials, however more than half the people you see on campus are wearing greek life shirts etc.

Athletics: Soccer is the biggest sport on campus and people are spirited and attend games and throw tortillas when we score. The other sports, I don't hear people talk about usually although they do advertise them.

Overall Experience: I really like my school although I don't think I was prepared for the workload. It is difficult and the work some teachers expect you to do like readings can be over whelming. Also we don't have a sports medicine department and that is something I am interested in. However I can't complain when I am doing my homework on the beach.

Health & Safety: Campus crime occurs fairly often, but authorities enforcement is still very strong in keeping a safe community.

Overall Experience: I love how the beach is right at our backyard, it is a great study break.

Health & Safety: I feel safe around campus, but IV is a bit sketchy around certain streets. The community is very helpful and will try to keep you safe if they see you in danger, but there is always a chance of getting into trouble around parties and other rowdy places

Overall Experience: The math department sucks and has awful professors, but over all the professors are pretty good. Class sizes can be a bit too large and cramped. Class style varies and there are so many courses you can take. (ex.You can take a Bowling class)

Campus Housing: People are loud, RAs don't do much, it's too expensive for the closet they give you to live in. They are nice, but over priced.

Party Scene: The nightlife here is great. We have been labeled a party school, but this does not dismiss our academic prosperity. We have parties every weekend.

Ask practically any UCSB student, and he or she can give you a long list of things they love about the University, along with a few things they wish they could change. For the most part, UCSB is a college student’s haven with great academics, world-renowned professors, not to mention the great weather and laid-back atmosphere, and lastly who can forget the social scene? Some students describe Santa Barbara as paradise, but for those who quickly get over it and need a getaway, LA is a short one-hour drive south, while San Francisco is only four hours north. There are hidden treasures in Santa Barbara that you can explore and take advantage of while living there.

Do not let the weather and social scene cloud your judgment and decisions—take a deeper look at the school and ask the students. Chances are, the parties are not at the top of their list. Most students fall in love with their internships, clubs and organizations, and research work that prepare them for the real world. The most successful students are those who find a balance between academics and social life. The temptation to blow off school is present wherever you go, so the students pay extra attention to the work they produce. Overall, UCSB is the type of school that produces people that employers are seeking. You will find your fellow peers to be sociable and well-rounded in and out of the workplace. So although you may not get to experience game days like you would at a football school, there is nothing better than being able to catch a quick "surf sesh" before and after your class.
