Party Scene: Los Angeles is an hour and a half to two hours away.

1 College Freshman

Party Scene: Literally never go to parties here. They're all boring, the music sucks, and no one can dance on beat.

3 College Junior

Party Scene: Same faces different parties. same themes every year. Its not that fun.

2 College Sophomore

Party Scene: The party scene at UCR is very exclusive. The Greek community is very exclusive and superficial. Usually only the greek frats throw parties that are any good and those are hard to get into mostly due to the fact that you have to know someone to get an invite/address and you need a car to get to the party.

4 College Freshman

Party Scene: Parties that are off campus are fun. Parties that are on campus are fun as well. It is a great time to distress yourself.

The campus party scene usually takes place at the end of the week and is mainly controlled by the fraternities and sororities, though it's not unheard of for a bash to be thrown in the dorms or someone's house. Locally, the bars and clubs are readily close at hand, especially for those who have a car. That is not to say that walking or cycling is out of the question, but the main areas of nightlife are few and far between, and can make for a rather long trek. It is recommended to travel in groups when touring the bars and clubs, not only to have a designated driver, but certain areas can be a bit unsavory. Underage students typically are restricted to shopping centers and movie theaters if they are unable to resist the temptation to drink with older student friends.

Outside of Riverside, weekend fun can be found in the relatively nearby Los Angeles, Orange County, or even to San Diego. The beaches and mountains are also easily accessible for the more adventurous party-goer or thrill-seeker.
