Athletics: The school is athletics is a great part of our campus. There is alot of student involvment in sports events, the school spirit is always on point and its great. The soccer team is one of the best college teams in california.

Overall Experience: One of my favorite experiences in UC Merced is that when it comes to exams most of my classmates come togther and form studying groups which is has been memorable from my part. My school is unique because the student population is not that big therefore giving the students a lot of opportunites to talk to the professor if we need help. I would not choose this school again because its always hot in Merced, and i would choose UCM because of the teacher vs student help one is able to get.

Greek Life: I had a roommate that joined greeklife, and as soon as they joined it they changed, they started going out more and wearing less, but in a way that was good because then she would get really annoying about her partying ways and how much she would drink and hook up with boys. it was good for her though because before that she was always in the room talking to her friends from home who were still in high school.

Health & Safety: there has never been a time that i ever felt unsafe at campus. we have a police station on campus that patrols the school all day, and at night we have security poles that if you ever do feel unsafe you can press and someone will escort you to where you have to go. its really safe at night i would always see people running around the campus, even though there are some dark areas, but nothing ever happened to them. i think we all have a great sense of community because we all keep an eye out for each other.

Overall Experience: i love that there is a diversity of all sorts in the classrooms. the professors are all there each individuals, and tech in their own way. certain professors are very tech savvy and do powerpoint, and others teach their class by taking notes with you. i had professors who really praised my work, and i had others that helped me improve a lot. the classes are a small size so the students and professors all get aquatinted amongst each other. even the biggest lecture halls that we have are pretty small. i genuinely love the size of the campus, and the amounts of students that make up each class.

Campus Housing: I really enjoyed living on campus, especially as an incoming freshman. everything is close, even if you are living in the farthest dorms which are Cathedral, Tenaya, and Half Dome. the atmosphere is great, you definitely get to know a lot of people, and recognize you neighbors. the rooms are easy to divide among the roommates, and the RA's have vacuums to keep your floors clean. in the 3 buildings that are mentioned, there is staff that clams the floor daily. the floor and restrooms are cleaned nails, except for weekends, so that is when the restroom is the messiest. i liked the fact that there were always events for the residents, and there was always free stuff that students could receive. overall living on campus is a great experience.

Overall Experience: The first semester was easier than expected because I felt very prepared for it. As the next semester rolled in. I had a lot of trouble in physics but I managed to find what I was doing wrong and passed the class. The physics professor was not good at all. He didn't really teach us but I learned on my own.

Health & Safety: Coming from a place where if you leave your laptop in the open and you go to the restroom and come back and it's gone. This campus finally allows you to feel safe and very trusting of people . We don't really steal from people on our campus. There's only been one incident in about 12 years in my school so I feel very safe.

Campus Housing: Forming my first year was great. The cleanliness of the campus is the best part yet. The majority of students from my school are minorities so we tend to take care of things better especially since we need it. The campus is very calm and it is very friendly. It is a big change from a hectic place like LA to a very calm place like Merced .

Greek Life: The Greek life in my school is really big I believe. I haven't gone to another campus and compared but I feel like joining a fraternity next semester or possibly the one after. They are very involved with the community and it gives me a sense of brotherhood. We do not have greek housing in my school.

Athletics: I personally do not attend the athletics team from my school because I do not have time for them but I do play for intramural teams and go to the gym.

Overall Experience: At first this school might make you feel very alone until you become social. This school helps develop professionalism but also it helps develop your social skills. I would choose my school all over again because I am learning how to become an independent person. I have felt the growth within myself the past year I have been attending this school.

3 College Sophomore

Athletics: I've never really been to the athletic facilities besides the gym. It caters to the demand but does not have a surplus or need ed treadmills or cycle and other necessities

5 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: To be honest, it's not like any other schools. This school will try to put the most out to offer students help whenever they need it. Although it might seem to be in the middle of nowhere, it allows for students to have a closers bond with each other

4 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: I have had many great professors in my time at Merced, but I also had some really bad professors as well. The bad professors made a class more challenge that it should have been and the great professors made a class much easier than I would expect a subject to be.

3 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: A degree from this school would mean a lot for someone of the STEM program, but not many other subjects I believe.

4 College Sophomore

Health & Safety: The doctors and nurses that work at the health clinic on campus are helpful and well taught in the medical field.

3 College Sophomore

Campus Housing: Living on campus can be nice, but you feel stranded without a car. People there are nice and caring, but there are not many people that live on campus. It can feel cramped inside a dorm.

4 College Sophomore

Greek Life: I am not a part of any Greek life on my campus, but I do know some people that are a part of Greek life and they love it in there

4 College Sophomore

Athletics: There are not many sports on campus that interest me, but attending them are very exciting and fun.

3 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: There are some many great professors that teach at Merced and there are any great people that attend the school as well, but there are some major issues involving the school as well. There is so little housing for oncoming students and upper classmen, there are little options for food on campus, the campus is too far from the city, and there are not many spaces for classes when registering for them. Although there are many things wrong with the campus, the people and the professors can make things much better.

3 College Sophomore

Athletics: Athletics at our school aren't terrible, they're pretty good! When it's not a hot day, I'll occasionally go watch a soccer game to support our team. The team performance is great! You can tell that they practice a lot and do various conditioning.

3 College Sophomore

Health & Safety: Despite the stabbing incident that occurred last fall, in 2015, our school is pretty safe. We have campus policemen walking through campus, eating at the dining halls, and walking through our dorms, and are right behind our science and engineering buildings.

4 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: The professors here at the Univeristy of California, Merced are passionate and straight forward about their expectations of their students. Most if not all of my toreadors make it clear that they care about their students success by reminding us that they have office hours or stopping mid-lecture to ask if we are understanding the lecture. Last semester, my history professor, professor Malloy was spectacular! He was always enthusiastic during lecture and would reenact historical events by asking us to participate in debates. Then, my sociology professor, professor Guzam, was always passionate during his sociology lectures and often asked if we were okay and were understanding everything he was explaining during lecture.

3 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: This campus definitely has great internships and students services, but lacks a bit of connections with the eorofrming arts. However, things are changing because now we can get a degree under the GASP program! Which is fantastic!

There tends to be a fair amount of skepticism about UC Merced, due to its young age. Because the school is located in a fairly small town and only opened its doors a little more than six years ago, there are plenty of students who come to UCM concerned about how established the University actually is and how boring life might be on or off campus. However, students tend to be surprised at what UCM has to offer. It definitely lives up to the UC standard, providing students with research opportunities and leadership positions. Students tend to not only adjust, but eventually come to love the cozy, neighborly atmosphere of the school. Those very accustomed to the busy city lifestyle might be shocked at the smallness of the place, but the general consensus is that there is plenty to do, both on and off campus, and that it is just a matter of exploring.

Ultimately, the University is like any other college in the sense that there will be parties. However, the party scene is not so big on campus, due to its size and the fact that there are not any fraternity or sorority houses. But there is a fair share of off-campus parties. For students more interested in extracurricular activities, UCM provides awesome opportunities, especially since students will have a chance to be at the forefront of many organizations, or even start a new organization or sports team, and create more school traditions. Students agree that by attending UCM, they have the opportunity to lay the foundation for a University with great potential. Plus, the brand-new facilities—including the labs, classrooms, and even the new, clean dorms and restrooms—are an asset to being a young school. Thus, while UCM might not provide one with a typical college experience, due to its smallness and newness, it's definitely possible for a student to have a worthwhile experience here if he or she is willing to get involved with campus life.
