One thing that’s accurately portrayed in the media and the movie Orange County is the absolute golden state of SoCal’s weather. Aside from a handful of days when it rains, nothing ever disrupts your opportunity to catch a few waves or take long walks along the Southern California shore. While the weather here is always bright and sunny, the temperature barely rises above 90 degrees, so you don’t have to worry about being cooked alive when you get back in your car after a long day of classes. Also, the cool breezes that frequently blow off the Pacific Ocean are quite relaxing to many UCI students and can balance out the 90 degree temperature and heat of the sun.

Most students show and appreciate the frequent sun through not only lotioned up and tanned skin, but by the casual shorts and T-shirts that are worn around campus every day. If you’re from the East or someplace where it snows a lot, you can leave most of your heavy wardrobe behind. The temperature drops in the evenings, and it can get a little chilly, but with winters that don’t get colder than 56 degrees, what exactly is “a little chilly?” Another plus is that there is little to no humidity, which is great if your hair tends to frizz. Since practically every day is a good day to go to the beach, most are ready to take advantage of the beautiful weather—bathing suits and all.
