My Day at UAM – This college was started in 1909--the campus is beautiful, we have the largest acreage in the state of any University, that is because most of it is pastures --with cows! It is so peaceful--I am 53, so I like that--I'm sure the young students find it dull at times, but it is a chance to connect with nature. All of the teaching staff is so friendly and helpful, they ALL want to get to know their students and seem to enjoy their jobs. The class sizes are small and the instructors always make time for any help a student could need--i can't say enough good things about it.
The campus grounds are nothing regal--but there are so many old growth trees--it being the only forestry school around---it's so pretty in the spring and fall--it is kept immaculately groomed. I love eating lunch alfresco and watching all the birds and squirrels that live there.
It is a very calming experience for me personnally.
I am a Modern Language major with focus in Spanish and a ceramics minor.--Love the place.

I have not yet started college here, but I have visited this college. The scenery around the college is beautiful. All the buildings have such abstract architectures. Inside the buildings the staff and students are helpful and friendly. I have heard that the food there is good , yet I have never been able to try it. In UAM there is a variety of diversity. You see many, Caucasians, African Americans, Hispanics, Asians and more. Everyone I saw had a different race walking to classes with them which is great! The dorms are very clean and neat according to who stays in them. Monticello is "a great place to raise a family". Many restaurants and jobs are available for college students in the Monticello area. They have a campus cop who patrols the whole area. He does his job accordingly by helping students who are endangering themselves and others. Overall, this school would be great!!!!!!

Courses were manageable and professors always welcomed questions and had great office hours. I feel that I learned a lot in every class I took, even classes that didn't apply to my major. Professors are strict but also very understanding. There aren't many languages offered or a lot of electives, but we do have a few. Sometimes they're only offered in one semester or at odd times. Class sizes at the beginning of the semester ranges anywhere between 15 to 60 students. I feel that this gives the opportunity for more individual attention.
