Academic Flexibility: UAFS has a work study program that has done a very good job working around your schedule that doesn't stress you out if you're a full-time or part-time student.

Overall Experience: There really isn't anything unique about this campus. We don't have a football team but our basketball team have been pretty good. It's a small campus with some quirks but if you're the type of student that prefers doing a lot of recreational activties/events on and outside campus, then UAFS isn't for you. It's local, cheap, with good dorms and a friendly environment. People come to UAFS either to finish their bachelors quick to go on to something bigger or better, or because it's local and all the other campuses are farther out. Honestly, if I had my way, I wouldn't be here but I have to stay because I cannot financially afford to go to a better college.

Overall Experience: There have been a couple of professors that I've run with that have been fairly bad. The classroom sizes are alright and the styles aren't bad either.

College Sophomore

Overall Experience: I haven't enrolled into anything that requires any out-of-campus services that are required for my major just yet.

College Sophomore

Online Courses: I have not taken any online courses

Student Body: Students on UAFS are pretty diverse and we get a lot of foreign exchange students every year. Politically, I would say it's more Christian but not so intimidating that people coming from other religions. I would say that our campus is more spiritual and open minded. In my opinion, our campus is more accepting and friendly.

Tuition & Financial Aid: Everything has been straightforward as far as getting everything processed. My financial aid advisers have given me all that I need to know on what needs to get paid, how much is needed for each semester, and reminding me (during each visit) of my current financial situation. They do a good job but I feel like there could be more done.

Career Services: I have not graduated, yet.

Academic Experience: Honestly, if UAFS wasn't so cheap and local, I would transfer to a better college. A lot of the degree plans they offer aren't top-notch and I feel like sometimes I didn't get the education I paid for. The advisers are a hit-and-miss; some are good and some should be fired. The programs aren't the best either and there are plenty of other colleges around Arkansas that can plan better than this.

Academic Experience: UAFS offers decent work/study options that can revolve around your schedule.

Campus Resources: The campus is fairly smaller than other campuses I've seen. UAFS has been rebuilding new facilities like a new art building and gym but I won't be able to see it by the time I graduate college. The dorms here at UAFS are the BEST but can be very expensive.

Campus Resources: Small-town university that is rapidly growing. I'm very glad I picked UAFS but sometimes feel like the personal connection isn't available.

Tuition & Financial Aid: Aside from UAFS raising their tuition every year, its been good. The education I am receiving from UAFS is great, but I think there tuition is a little high. As far as my experiences with the financial aid office goes, its been very smooth! I haven't had any problems with the people upstairs working in the financial aid office, every time I go up there they are very nice and reasonably fast. The only tip I have on financial aid is apply for FAFSA

Academic Flexibility: Time management is not of much concern

Career Services: In the business perspective they've showed what other graduates went out & done

Student Body: The school isn't very diverse but there are many clubs that show all types of interests amongst others

Academic Experience: I am a Nursing major and it's one of the toughest majors in my opinion. It's one of the health sciences majors and it involves helping and/or saving lives so of course it should be tough. If one were to try really hard and study when they are supposed to, the work to finish the degree will be all worth it. Like most other places involving health, it's very strict on its rules.

Academic Experience: As stated earlier, there are a lot of foreign professors where English is not their main, or first, language so sometimes it's hard to understand or hear them, but they are definitely friendly and is willing to help any of their students so long as their students show interest in working hard in return. The programs with the school are hard to understand because technology is always evolving but once you stare at the screen for a period of time, it's pretty straightforward. Class registration goes by so quickly and there are times where certain levels of students are able to register but it's understandable because there are so many students and the computers wouldn't want to become confused.

Career Services: I believe that we've just started a post-graduate service at the school that caused the tuition to go up even higher but I'm not too sure about that. The career center will definitely help but there are some advisors that seem to tell you like it is. There are a lot of ways that people can recommend others for jobs.

Campus Resources: There is a large athletic center that is shared by athletes and band members. For people wanting to play basketball and the like they usually just go to the gym where there is space for that. The student center is usually always open though there are a lot of times where they are closed for those that are already living on campus. Some of the hours are hard to maintain and go through but they will still help you without making a student feel dumb. The library is excellent. Now that they've moved back their hours to midnight, a lot of students can get a lot of their studying and other things, finished. There is also a twenty-four hour room that is definitely useful. Campus activities are varied. Some things are really popular like the movie showings and the bowling nights and the themed dining hall dinners. There is usually something every day of the week and there is a lot of information given at these activies and free food so it's all around fun.

Academic Flexibility: Since I have not transfered to UAFS from another school, I do not have the experience with it as others may do but I have heard that UAFS didn't take a lot of the WATC credits for a while and this guy had to take all of his classes over and it even dropped his GPA. I'm not for sure if this is true, though. The classes are pretty accessible so long as you quickly get signed up for the classes after getting the hold off from your advisor. Flexibility for most students should be all right if they don't have jobs or any other extra curricular activities though even with jobs, there are plenty of full online courses that could be chosen from.

Tuition & Financial Aid: It might just be an Arkansas thing but if there is any warning or rumor of snow or heavy ice around the area, the school will shut it down just to be safe. Sure, it's a precaution mainly because Arkansas rarely does anything to ensure that people are safe in these situations but sometimes, there is a lot of school being missed especially around winter or tornado seasons. The tuition is fine considering other schools and the rules of financial aid are really fair.

Overall Experience: There are many courses that are available at the University of Arkansas - Fort Smith. If there isn't a major that is tuned towards one career, there are other majors and minors that are quite similar. Most of the professors aren't from America and usually that could cause a language barrier because a lot of them do have a strong accent but they are friendly and willing to help so long as the student asking is willing to work. The regular courses in class are great and there is tons of references and materials surrounding the student if there is ever questions. Sizes vary but sometimes, there are tons of people (about 25-30) in smaller classrooms so that "you guys are all packed in like sardines."

4 College Sophomore

Student Body: There is a diversity of students at the University of Arkansas - Fort Smith. I am confident to type that there isn't an overload of one ethnicity and it's very comforting to see that there isn't any discrimination between social cliques. Typically, most students just keep to their circle but it isn't hard to reach out to another status quo. Just like the student body, each of the classes also have different majors in the classrooms so it isn't just one full major in the classroom, making it easier to connect to the rest of the classmates.

4 College Junior

Academic Flexibility: My academic advisors have been great while helping me keep both my school and work schedules on track. I can always find classes that work perfect for me and I my work. This is very important to me because it is essential that I work in order to pay bills and keep going to school.
