Campus Resources: Could be better but it's great overall

Academic Flexibility: It's difficult for general elective classes because all of the lower level students want the same times and classes, but as you move up in your degree the class selection gets MUCH easier and availability is better.

Overall Experience: I would choose UAFS again because I have had a great college experience! I believe that college is what you make it. If you slack or are uninvolved then you shouldn't expect any more that what you put it. Be involved, meet people, grab the opportunities offered.

Overall Experience: Professors are very understanding and reasonable, offer a variety of classes and the class sizes are small enough that you are a name and not just a number.

Overall Experience: I have the opportunity to complete 3 semester long internships, gaining a lot of hands on experience! I think that UAFS offers a lot of opportunities for students to get real life experience and not just text book lessons.

Online Courses: I took a few online classes. The experience was positive. Wasn't too hard, professors were helpful and understanding. The online classes worked well with my schedule outside of the university (job, family etc.)

Student Body: Your college experience is what you make it. If you sit in your dorm all day and don't come out, then don't anticipate a great social life. There is a lot of opportunity at UAFS! And if the university doesn't offer a club or sport that you like then you can go to the the Student Activities Office and start it up yourself (simple). No one is going to force you to participate, but if you do then you will have a GREAT experience and meet some wonderful students and faculty.

Tuition & Financial Aid: Everything is straight forward (as long as you sit down and discuss with Financial Aid about your situation and options). There will always be a couple bumps in the road, but they worked really well with me to get all of my Financial Aid settled and taken care of.

Career Services: We have a great Career Services office! They offer a TON of services to help you prepare as you are getting ready to graduate. However, you have to go up there and ask for assistance or what opportunities they have to offer (no one is going to reach out and hand it to you--you area grown adult, ask for help).

Academic Experience: My major is English with teacher licensure 7-12. I have genuinely enjoyed ALL of my English classes. They offer a variety of special topics courses (Harry Potter, Sherlock Holmes, Chaucer, Apocalyptic, Jane Austen etc.). However, the education dept. is AWFUL. It is actually the reason I have chosen not to go into the education field for a career. They are revamping the program, but as of right now, the education dept. has been horrible to deal with. I would have LOVED my college experience if I had done straight English.

Academic Experience: You are a person and not a number. The professors are willing to work with you if you attend class, pay attention and do your best. You just have to ask for the help (they aren't mind readers and you are an adult--ask).

Campus Resources: The resources at the University of Arkansas Fort Smith is wonderful. A very well thought out organization that has opportunities for students to receive help when needed, library use, sports gym, and activities that welcomes in incoming freshman.

Academic Flexibility: UAFS has a work study program that has done a very good job working around your schedule that doesn't stress you out if you're a full-time or part-time student.

Overall Experience: There really isn't anything unique about this campus. We don't have a football team but our basketball team have been pretty good. It's a small campus with some quirks but if you're the type of student that prefers doing a lot of recreational activties/events on and outside campus, then UAFS isn't for you. It's local, cheap, with good dorms and a friendly environment. People come to UAFS either to finish their bachelors quick to go on to something bigger or better, or because it's local and all the other campuses are farther out. Honestly, if I had my way, I wouldn't be here but I have to stay because I cannot financially afford to go to a better college.

Overall Experience: There have been a couple of professors that I've run with that have been fairly bad. The classroom sizes are alright and the styles aren't bad either.

Student Body: Students on UAFS are pretty diverse and we get a lot of foreign exchange students every year. Politically, I would say it's more Christian but not so intimidating that people coming from other religions. I would say that our campus is more spiritual and open minded. In my opinion, our campus is more accepting and friendly.
