Athletics: Our Rec Center is amazing, and UAS doesn't really have any sports teams so Residence Life/Student Activities Board plans camping trips/hiking trips to keep us entertained. Juneau has more than 100 trails, some of which are walking distance from campus.

Off-Campus Housing: Juneau, and most of Alaska is just a generally exepensive place because everything comes through canada or is barged/flown in.

Off-Campus Dining: Juneau is this quaint little hub of great seafood, Pel Meni, Saffron and Chan's Thai, as well as countless cafes and bakeries that are all excellent.

Administration: It's a small school so if someone gets busted word travels quickly, and thats embarrassing. Other than that I don't notice a lot of rule breaking going on.

Scholarships: There are a lot of scholarships offered in Alaska, and the Financial Aid advisor has hosted multiple seminars on Financial Literacy, Finding Scholarships, Job Hunting, Money Saving, and even has offered incentives for attending Scholarship 101 seminars (the chance to win gift cards)

Party Scene: Theres a club, but Juneau isn't as so much a party scene as it is restaurant scene. We are right off the ocean and you can always enjoy fresh Alaskan Seafood, plus Pels is this dainty little restaurant that serves Pel Meni (Russian dumplings) in only two options but both are incredible.

Campus Food: Honestly the quality of your food will depend on your chef/barista when you order. What's nice is that food in Alaska is expensive and with the meal plan you at least know you will always be able to eat. The campus convenience store that takes our Dining Dollars and they sell things like pints of ice cream, gluten free pasta, organic granola, soymilk, etc. It's a pretty well stocked Campus Store

Campus Housing: The Freshman Residence Hall is a brand new dorm and exceeds my expectations of college dorm life. The rooms are HUGE with big windows, if you're on the upper levels facing the campus you can see the Mendenhall Glacier, or if you are like me on the ground floor facing the forest you can spot Southeast Alaskan Wildlife on the daily.

College Junior

Campus Housing: I don't live on campus.

4 College Junior

Majors: I intend to do an internship.

4 College Junior

Off-Campus Dining: it's small but worth it

4 College Freshman

Diversity: Everyone here at the university cares about the person rather than their religious affiliation, sexual orientation, or race.

Off-Campus Dining: Unless you want to eat breakfast, there is not much in terms of places to eat Off-Campus.

College Freshman

Academics: I never notice any alumni.

3 College Freshman

Weather: It rains a lot, but it's something Alaskans are used to. It does not change my campus experience at all.

College Freshman

Off-Campus Housing: I have never really looked into Off-Campus Housing, so I do not know much about it.

College Freshman

Greek Life: We don't have Greek life at my university.

4 College Freshman

Local Area: I love the size of Juneau, for my upbringing in a small town. It's a nice place and very relaxing. It would be nice to have more events and activities available for students.

3 College Freshman

Athletics: The university has a basketball court, which can host a variety of sports, but would really benefit with a turf field of some sort.

3 College Freshman

Technology: Without a laptop, you have to compete with students to use a computer. There are plenty of opportunities to use a computer, but get filled up fairly quickly.

5 College Freshman

Drug Safety: Occasionally, you'll see students smoking marijuana, but it is not much of a problem.

4 College Freshman

Party Scene: I love walking, and take late night strolls. During these walks, I never feel uncomfortable or in danger. The dorms and the campus are both a safe place during the evening.

5 College Freshman

Parking: There's always an open space.

4 College Freshman

Administration: It's a smaller campus so they don't offer as much benefits as bigger schools. The university doesn't offer much in terms of clubs and groups

4 College Sophomore

Majors: I do enjoy my program. Im going for my associates in business administration online. UAS offers this whole degree online, which is very helpful to me since I'm a single mom. The classes are pretty cut and dry. We read out of the text, have discussions about what we read or on a specific question. We have midterms and finals and quizzes.
