Off-Campus Dining

{{ error }}
3 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Dining: Lots of chains and a lot of local places, but few are any good. Eventually you just go to the same few places over and over again.

3 College Junior

Off-Campus Dining: While there are some night options like Waffle House, and some ethnic places (Chinese, Thai, Indian, Japanese, Arabic), it's often a lot more interesting to experiment at home or with friends. These are good out of necessity late at night (midnight sushi has a lot of fans), but the variety is limited. I don't know much about student discounts. My favorite place is Hooligan's, which is Middle-Eastern/Southern fusion, which is closer to campus, relatively cheap, and gives out a free meal after so many meals (with punch-card).

3 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: There's a lot on the strip, which you can walk to, but it gets old fast.

3 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: There are a lot of good places to eat. Some places can be pricey. I wish more places took dining dollars.

4 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: Off campus dining is what I usually do the most. It is convenient to my housing. I am usually in a hurry so it works great.

If students need a break from on-campus dining, they don't have to go far. Most of the popular restaurants are located right around the corner. Tuscaloosa offers everything from fine dining to fast food. Chances are, any type of food your taste buds crave is here. Students enjoy locally-owned restaurants along with the chain restaurants. With all there is to choose from, students have trouble picking just one as their favorite. For a laid-back social atmosphere, students prefer Buffalos Phil's, Crimson Café, or Pepito's. For more of a "night on the town" restaurant, students suggest Depalma's, Café Venice, or Cypress Inn. For students watching their pocketbooks, places like City Café offer good Southern meals for lower prices.

Students don't have to worry about finding a place to eat in Tuscaloosa. There are many restaurants of all kinds located on the Strip and downtown, so students don't have to worry about traveling far. They encourage others to try some of the unique places that Tuscaloosa has to offer, since there are so many. If eating out is putting a hole in your wallet, don't worry. Dining Dollars and Bama Cash are accepted at many off-campus restaurants, making it easy for students to pay for their meals.
