Technology: Computers are great here. They're up to date and the cost of use is lenient.

Weather: The tornado that happened a few years back still takes a toll on dangerous weather outbreaks here and people do take than seriously, but there haven't been any dangerous weather outbreaks this year.

Administration: The strictness here on campus is much more than I expected...and it's a positive surprise.

Greek Life: i wish i could do it but its way too expensive

Party Scene: There is always a party going on somewhere. It's good to get involved in organazations that have parties but if you're a girl you can get into any!

Party Scene: There is always something going on no matter if it is on frat row, the strip, or a neighbor's house.

Transportation: The bus systems are great when you have plenty of time, but with the number of students on campus there is no way to expect that the busses are going to be on time.

Academics: The academics are good. The Physics and Chemistry departments could be better.

3 College Sophomore

Drug Safety: Alcohol is everywhere, but you have a choice whether to take part or not. The same goes for drug use. It is there, but it is your responsibility to make good choices.

4 College Sophomore

Scholarships: I received the Presidential Scholarship which covered the cost of my tuition and fees. However, housing and expenses are still a problem, so I have to do a lot on my own to help cover them.

4 College Sophomore

Diversity: There are so many different people from different cultures at UA. It is great meeting new people and discussing their views.

Campus Housing: I loved living on campus. The honors dorms are incredibly nice, and it is awesome not having to find a parking spot on game day or even on regular class days.

Health & Safety: I feel incredibly safe on campus. The police phones are placed in a way that you can easily access one if you feel unsafe. Walkways are well lit and the dorms are very secure.

Weather: Sometimes extremes, like snow can affect our ability to go to class, and in summer the heat is a killer, but nothing is too unbearable, and I have never had to go to class in subzero temperatures.

Technology: There are plenty of computers in the labs and libraries across campus, although with the high volume of students it is better to bring your own if you have one. Also, the ones in labs give you access to software that may be too expensive to purchase on your own.

Majors: I had a strong GPA in high school and was an out of state student. Coming into the University's Business program I did not encounter many issues. The transition from high school to college was swift.

Campus Housing: The dorms are excellent. Of course there is one dorm on campus that is outdated and needs refurbishing. The remaining dorms appear brand new.

Transportation: Campus transportation is efficient and on time, especially considering the amount of students at the University of Alabama.

Academics: Professors are understanding and very knowledgable, most of the time, on their classes. You will have some classes with no books, no homework. While others will make you work completely alone, Ask around for better professors.

Overall ExperienceWhat's this?

View student contributors

University of Alabama students constantly brag about their school’s traditions and spirit, and their pride is shown throughout the town. Some say it’s the incredible education that drew them here, and others say it’s Bama football that brought them to this Southern school. But no matter what reason these students choose to come to UA, most believe it was the best choice they could have made.

After graduation, some students get a job, some further their education by going to UA’s grad school, and some even go to UA’s law school. No matter what the students decide to do with their future, they believe Bama has prepared them for it. Students advise upcoming freshmen to walk around the Quad, visit the Strip, or watch a football game to understand why so many love UA.
