Campus Quality: Alabama prides itself on being an up and coming research as well as a sought after Engineering program. It's obvious they are seeking high quantity professors as well as students. The selection of clubs is large and varied.

Weather: It rains more than I'd like in the fall, but the campus is beautiful as the leaves turn.

4 College Sophomore

Party Scene: Lots of parties; lots of options!

Health & Safety: The care is good; the wait time is crazy!

Guys & Girls: Alabama's social life is strongly linked to the Greek system. I'd go so far as to say they control student government. I did go Greek and have no regrets; however, there's a strong division line between Greeks and non-Greeks and I don't agree with this faction.

Campus Housing: If your in the honor program you've got it made! Alabama has great honor's dorms and caters to drawing the best and the brightest from throughout the US.

3 College Sophomore

Technology: Wifi in the dorms was reliable

3 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Dining: Most places require a car, but that's not a big deal as many students have cars on campus.

3 College Sophomore

Administration: As long as you keep in classy UA is pretty lenient.

4 College Sophomore

Health & Safety: I feel safe walking around campus. It could be better lit at night, but it is manageable.

Weather: I usually enjoy the Alabama weather. It is very nice in the summer and fall. The winters are relatively cold, but not unbearable.

Technology: The computer labs are usually accessible. The Wifi is very inconsistent and frustrating. It is difficult to maintain a steady Wifi connection.

Guys & Girls: Most girls are very preppy and athletic and into partying.

Athletics: ROLL TIDE ROLL. If you're looking at this school you must know that our football team is one of the best in the nation. With that said, people also support soccer, gymnastics and basketball!

Off-Campus Housing: Living off campus is much cheaper than living on campus. The apartments are much like a resort with many amenities. All are very new and offer multiple arrangements close to campus.

5 College Freshman

Academics: The course is a lot of Chem Bio and Math, but there are so many different options in electives for the different routes within Chemical Engineering. Through Co-Ops you can gain real world experience and most often a job after graduation.

4 College Freshman

Academics: Most professors really care, and will offer extra help if you seek it from them. Honors classes offer smaller class sizes and fast paced courses... you can get to know your professors even better. Average class size is relatively small.

Weather: Because I am from the north, I absolutely LOVE the weather on campus it is mostly warm, and even when it is cold, you can walk from building to building across campus.

4 College Freshman

Diversity: Most people on campus are conservative and religious (Christian), but there are people of all backgrounds present.

Drug Safety: Most people drink, especially on Game Day, but people (for the most-part) control themselves, so they don't have any issues.

Health & Safety: I feel very safe on campus. I don't think anything of walking across campus at night with one friend. Police are visible, and there are blue emergency poles lit up should anything happen.

Greek Life: Greek Life is definitely big on campus, but don't feel obligated to join if it's not you. I joined my sorority in informal rush, after choosing that it was what I wanted. Amazing girls, but two thirds of the campus are NOT Greek.. don't think you won't have fun if you don't rush.

Parking: Most dorms have parking lots extremely close. There are also generic lots for people who live off campus to park in that are close to classes.

5 College Freshman

Campus Quality: With over 300 organizations on campus, there is definitely a place for everyone here on campus. Get on Board Day is a must, find out information about each group.

Overall ExperienceWhat's this?

View student contributors

University of Alabama students constantly brag about their school’s traditions and spirit, and their pride is shown throughout the town. Some say it’s the incredible education that drew them here, and others say it’s Bama football that brought them to this Southern school. But no matter what reason these students choose to come to UA, most believe it was the best choice they could have made.

After graduation, some students get a job, some further their education by going to UA’s grad school, and some even go to UA’s law school. No matter what the students decide to do with their future, they believe Bama has prepared them for it. Students advise upcoming freshmen to walk around the Quad, visit the Strip, or watch a football game to understand why so many love UA.
