Guys & Girls: All the girls and guys, if they are Greek, dress the exact same way.

Health & Safety: There is a lot of crime happening, so it can be scary. I wouldn't walk alone at night

Party Scene: Cover is ridiculous. It varies, the cops aren't that bad, but ABC is awful

Overall Experience: I wouldn't want to go anywhere. It's an awesome experience

Diversity: It's not really diverse, I feel like everyone stays together. There's also racial issues on campus

Off-Campus Housing: It really just depends, there are tons of apartments and even houses for rent. I think a house is the best bet. I've heard horror stories with some of the apartments, but that could happen anywhere.

Campus Quality: It's a great school with plenty of opportunities!

Greek Life: I didn't join a fraternity but if I ever did, it would be at the University of Alabama.

Drug Safety: I'm sure most schools party. I am popular, but I don't drink (never have). I was able to be nominated for SGA President, invited to join Fraternities even though they knew I wouldn't drink -- they were fine with it. I just said, "I don't drink, don't judge me for not drinking and I won't judge you for drinking" Everything was great!

Campus Housing: Presidential is awesome for dorms.... Then apartments -- there are so many new ones.

Weather: Except tornadoes, it is great!

Scholarships: I was accepted after the Dec. 1st deadline (I applied late) and ended up not getting scholarships that I WOULD HAVE been accepted for. We were moving my senior year, that is why I was late to applying, not for lack of management.

I now pay an out of state tuition cost and I am broke!

Diversity: There is a nice mix at UA...

Administration: The campus allows you to enjoy your time without feeling like you are being watched.

Technology: Computer availability at UA is great. You can go to one of the many libraries and find one with no trouble. Our wifi, however, is absolutely awful. It is slow and crashes all the time. There have been plenty of times where assignments have been pushed back or cancelled because of the wifi being down.

Majors: It was pretty easy getting into my program. You just have to make sure you involve yourself and join clubs.

Majors: My program is ranked in the top 5 of the country, so im pretty proud to be apart of it. They push you and help you all at the same time. There are plenty of opportunities to involve yourself in and the professors help you out with internships and such.

Campus Housing: Living on campus is awesome. You are close to everything that you need and meet a lot of great people. Some of the dorms arent the best but then again we have dorms that are absolutely beautiful. If you do everything on time its pretty easy to get what you want. The cost depends on which style you want.

Diversity: We have a really big racism problem here at UA. It was very overwhelming especially when i come from such a melting pot. If you arent white, rich and pretty, you pretty much are looked down upon. Our greek system has been in trouble because of racism twice this year.

Academics: Public Relations at UA is ranked in the top 5 in the country, I am extremely blessed to be able to learn from them and grow with their help. Im very excited to learn more and meet more of their connections. I am very hopeful that i will be getting a job right after graduation.

Overall ExperienceWhat's this?

View student contributors

University of Alabama students constantly brag about their school’s traditions and spirit, and their pride is shown throughout the town. Some say it’s the incredible education that drew them here, and others say it’s Bama football that brought them to this Southern school. But no matter what reason these students choose to come to UA, most believe it was the best choice they could have made.

After graduation, some students get a job, some further their education by going to UA’s grad school, and some even go to UA’s law school. No matter what the students decide to do with their future, they believe Bama has prepared them for it. Students advise upcoming freshmen to walk around the Quad, visit the Strip, or watch a football game to understand why so many love UA.
