3 College Junior

Greek Life: The Greek life is very big here. I, personally, would not like to join a sorority. At first I thought that it would be a good idea, but it seems to me that all they care about is the letters they wear and superficial things. They don't seem to be as helpful as they were back in the day and have a lot of drama. I would like to join one if they did more things for the community and to help better campus life.

Athletics: Roll Tide is what describes The University of Alabama the best! This college is known for it's amazing and sometimes overly school spirit! One thing that brings this campus together despite the diversity, would definitely be the football team.

Overall Experience: I transferred from the University of South Alabama to The University of Alabama my sophomore year for family reasons. At first, I was not too fond of UA because not all of my credits transferred. After the first semester, I began to love my school because of the various opportunities to be successful.

Drug Safety: I never felt pressured to use anything besides alcohol. I have heard of some fraternities requiring drug use of their pledges, which is frankly disgusting

Party Scene: There's always numerous parties to attend, both on and off campus, any thursday-saturday night. There are some weeks(finals week, away football weekends) which are not as big

Party Scene: The best parties are at the Sigma Phi Epsilon house

Diversity: There are some international and minority students, but not a lot. There are not a lot of people who make a big deal about it though. The crowd that attends Alabama just seems to be that crowd.

Greek Life: Largest greek system in the nation. Many on campus think that it is also the best system in the nation. It provided me with so many opportunities and good times, along with close friends that I really couldn't imagine college without it.

Overall Experience: I love this school so far, and I don't think that I would be as happy anywhere else. The quality education that I receive along with the value is incredible. Roll Tide

Health & Safety: Most crime happens near campus but not on

Campus Housing: Walls are thin but residential suites are nice!

Athletics: The huge focus is Football

Overall Experience: After a semester I realized its not the school for me

Academics: Sooooooo difficult, depending upon your major also. But still not very easy! Workload could be heavy depending on class and professor. The registration process can become frustrating because it is first come first serve. Classes fill up pretty fast.

5 College Sophomore

Athletics: Of course football is huge here. If you are not a big fan, it is still ok, many people here on campus are not. (I am one of them). I do not attend games often but I definately try to enjoy the atmosphere and participate in the activities offered.

Overall Experience: I love the UA. There are so many oportunities to explore different things, (careers, different cultures, jobs, etc). I love it, there is definately something for any and everyone. If I had to go back I would do it all again.

Health & Safety: The campus is safe and informative. There are campus alerts and blue phones located everywhere on campus.

Overall Experience: Not everything I love about my school but there are perks. The professors are pretty challenging along with academics. There are a variety of courses offered and the class sizes depend on the course. Some classes such as English are pretty small while science classes such as Chemistry are pretty big.

4 College Freshman

Overall Experience: Honestly am not very informed about this category, but I have heard things regarding it.

Campus Housing: The dorms are pretty well constructed, there are some new and older style dorms. It is up to you upon which you decide to live in, but they all are well kept and clean. The staff that work in the dormitories work endlessly to keep up the buildings. The cost again is up to the students financial abilities. There are some affordable dorms and expensive. The atmosphere is pretty great, you always feel safe. The housing process is not bad. It is first come first serve though.

Greek Life: Not entirely sure about the Greek life on campus. I do know that it is pretty big on our campus compared to many other colleges and universities.

5 College Freshman

Athletics: As I have previously stated, the school has excellent school spirit, fan participation, and great team performance. I enjoy this the most.

Overall Experience: One thing that I would say about my school so far is that they have excellent school spirit. Roll Tide! The school spirit helps make the school unique in so many ways. The excitement for football season is always around and that is one of the best experiences that I have had. The academics aren't fairly easy, therefore there is a struggle.

Overall Experience: We have the Roll Tide spirit. Everybody is extremely friendly and the classes are very unique. This is the best school to go to for my major of Mechanical Engineering.

Overall ExperienceWhat's this?

View student contributors

University of Alabama students constantly brag about their school’s traditions and spirit, and their pride is shown throughout the town. Some say it’s the incredible education that drew them here, and others say it’s Bama football that brought them to this Southern school. But no matter what reason these students choose to come to UA, most believe it was the best choice they could have made.

After graduation, some students get a job, some further their education by going to UA’s grad school, and some even go to UA’s law school. No matter what the students decide to do with their future, they believe Bama has prepared them for it. Students advise upcoming freshmen to walk around the Quad, visit the Strip, or watch a football game to understand why so many love UA.
