Overall Experience: UA is a phenomenal all-around top-class public university in New York. And definitely a top-class public university in the nation as well due to great academics, facilities, alumni and incredible faculty all for a greatly affordable fee.

Overall Experience: The University at Albany (State University of New York) is a greatly reputable research university that's produced tons of great professionals and alumni worldwide. As you walk throughout the campus it's hard to ignore the universities affinity for international outreach and education as it boosts signs such as "162,000 alumni worldwide and counting," or, "The World Within Reach" (a speaker series that has invited famous inspirational people such as the former President Bill Clinton to speak). The university has strong ties with state government/agency offices due its location in the capital city of New York State, strong ties with cities like NYC where tons of students and alumni alike are based, strong ties with nanotechnology, and strong ties with nation and world as the university is nationally ranked as a whole an on several academic categories which serve as a correlation the success and continues endeavors of innovation and progress at the university. The university is great but some will say it's up-and-coming (also true) as the university has made many successful efforts to improve academics and campus life for students, faculty, and alumni alike. UA boasts a new School of Business building that's ranked as one of the most beautiful in the world, a new football field, a new central podium area, and so much more to come! Maybe best of all, UA offers a high value education for a greatly affordable price compared to the $40-$75k private universities are going for nowadays. UA is phenomenal!

Overall Experience: University at Albany provides students with an uniquely excellent international research education that arguably beats out a lot of private colleges/universities my indebted friends wish they had transferred from sooner. There's a reason why lots of international students and researches alike attend this university and that's because it's an all-around high class public research university in the state of New York with a location in the capital. Certain schools, programs and departments present at the University have always been reputable and nationally acclaimed such as the Rockefeller College of Public Affairs and Policy, School of Business, Social Work, Public Health, Criminology and Education. Others have risen considerably such as the state of the art College of Nanoscale Engineering at the partnered institution of SUNY Polytechnic Institution. You'll find professors who've graduated from the best graduate schools who instill rigor and excellence in the courses for students. Generally you have to take a quality international and socially-aware liberal arts curriculum otherwise known as the SUNY General Studies core which requires UA students to take a foreign language course, an International Perspectives course, and a challenges of the 21st century course amongst other categorical course frameworks. If you took AP courses in high school you'll find UA to be convenient as the university always has an ear/eye of acceptance for students who have successfully earned college credit in courses like AP US History or AP Bio during high school. Classes are generally hard and challenging to the avail and criticism of students. However, professors want the very best for their students so they're always available to assist you just as places like the Writing Center and tutoring centers are. All of my professors have had highly successful careers which make lectures/classes more applicable and fascinating for students. I had a New York State Supreme Court Judge as a prof.!

Guys & Girls: Very diverse. Students come from all over the state, nation and world!

Health & Safety: Not too many complaints in mind. The University Hospital/Health Center is very nice and large. Tons of different medical options for students should student decide to pay for the university health insurance. Only complaint is that the health center is located down the street from campus as opposed to on-campus which can be a hassle for students. But, I do believe there are buses that provide students with transportation there.

Athletics: UA has a top athletic Division 1 sports program. We have a football team who plays at a brand-new football stadium, a consistently high performing men's and women's basketball teams who have repeatedly made it to the national tournament (March Madness) many times, an exciting lacrosse team with reputable players, a consistent track program and many other respective high performing mens and women teams with some international athletes.

Because of the athletic success over the years and a dedication to student fitness, UA offers nice athletic facilities to students from big fitness centers/gyms, to indoor and outdoor basketball courts, to student-only turf soccer fields, to new tennis courts, to running trails, to a new track, to SEFCU arena, and more.

Greek Life: UA's greek scene is diverse as there are the standard national fraternities and sororities present. There are also quite a number of minority fraternities and sororities at UA such as: Asian fraternities/sororities, African American fraternities/sororities, hispanics frats/sororities, international student frats/sororities, and academic society fraternities and societies. These associations help create a lively student life at the school and in the community as they are responsible for hosting events on/off campus, doing community service, and establishing alumni connections.

Off-Campus Housing: Albany has a versatile student-renting scene as lots of students opt to live in the lively college areas of Albany amongst their peers. Tons of businesses thrive off of this notion and continually invest into meeting the needs of the students in the form of restaurants, barber shops, independent shops, you name it. Albany apartments are also very affordable too compared to cities like New York, Boston, or Montreal. Many students are able to find 3-bedroom apartments that they rent between their peers to save money on tuition fees and housing costs on campus.

Off-Campus Dining: Literally so many restaurants and dining options in Albany. Around the campus area there's Stuyvesant Plaza where you can get Chipotle amongst other restaurants. Downtown Albany, enough said (tons of local gems and ethnic cuisines). And various shopping centers/malls too!
