Athletics: Very little support and interest go towards the athletic programs, especially considering Mids are required to attend them.

Overall Experience: Kings Point is a pretty tough place to get through. The military lifestyle makes some things pretty tough, but the education is worth it in the end.

Overall Experience: Being a service federal academy you have a lot more responsibilities then other college students do. With a trimester based schedule the academics are very rigorous. Also, the strict regimental lifestyle you have to adhere by. What makes this school more unique than others is the sea year requirement you are required to do sophomore and junior year. There you can grow you technical abilities in the maritime industry with hands on experience . I enjoy playing soccer for the academy. If I had to choose I would more then likely still choose to go here because of all the opportunities it gives you upon graduation.

Overall Experience: The United States Merchant Marine Academy is a rigorous school because of the strict regiment environment and fast pace academic trimester system. As freshmen in college or known as a "plebe" in the regiment, they are required to experience a "boot camp" experience called "Indoctrination". The boot camp was my favorite experience because it opened opportunities to act out as a leader and work with the platoon to establish cohesion. We would have to do certain things such as learning the academy's knowledge, cleaning the academy, rifle drilling, and motivating each other during physical training as one unit. The academy is located near New York City and has a beautiful waterfront, where students are given the opportunity to get a hands on experience to work with the ships' engines and work on the bridge. There are also sail boats such as dinghies and other boats to try out sailing. The Merchant Marine Academy also has military options for students, who want to serve active duty, they can apply for military occupation slots similar to the other federal service academies. On the graduation side, the school is provides an abundant amount of opportunities after graduation such as serving in any military branches or choosing to sail as a Merchant Marine under the Department of Transportation. There are two majors, Deck and Engine, and these majors are guaranteed to give students a job because of the technical skills compared to other colleges. I chose to attend this college because of the multiple options and the selection between two majors. This school is very tough and teaches time management, balance with extra-curricular activities, classmate collaboration, and it challenges me to improve, excel, find multiple ways and want to succeed in every class.

Scholarships: you don't need a scholar ship to go here, it would cost your parents or your self more money to feed and clothe you than to pay your small school fees
