Overall Experience: Towson University is an awesome University. Overall yes you can do better academic wise between college park and UMBC in state but but it is far from the worst, but in terms of the actual "College Experience" i can only think of one place in state that will offer you a better college experience and that is University of Maryland Collegepark.

Overall Experience: If you are in a frat then it is very good but if you aren't it is still actually really good as well but not near as good as for the fraternities.

4 College Freshman

Greek Life: There are a lot of choices but if you are mostly interested in the schools greek life, Towson has very good greek life but UMD Collegepark has better greek life

3 College Freshman

Athletics: Its not the best but far from the worst. If you want to stay in shape or just play basketball or other sports you will be fine.

Off-Campus Housing: A lot of the social life is there also you don't have to deal with campus rules if you are off campus there is no worry of an RA catching you doing anything, a lot of the parties are off campus as well. Its not like 5 star top of the line but it is if you can afford it better than living on campus

Off-Campus Dining: Its great because most of them are open until like 2-3 am in the morning and also some are open 24/7. If you like the idea of a 24/7 Subway, Dunkin Donuts, and 7/11 then you will enjoy off campus dining.

Administration: As long as you are careful in the way you go about things and aren't too reckless you shouldn't really get in trouble with the school.

Scholarships: The whole reason i wasn't able to go there this semester. I was told that i would have 4-5K in grant aid fall semester 2014 then i get there and within the 1st month of attendance they took away some of my grants causing my family to have to pay 8 THOUSAND DOLLARS for that semester instead of our 4-5K and because of that we couldn't afford spring semester due to the FAFSA mixup, that is my only issue with them. I am still in their system and have applied for re-enrollment for 2015 Fall semester but I shouldn't even have to go through this. However since my mom retired our FAFSA this year is solely based on my dad and she made more than him so I should receive more aid mixed with all of the scholarships i am applying for. But as far as I am concerned i had a terrible experience there with Financial aid department. That is my only real complaint about the school, but I have experience with their system now and plan to make sure that never repeats itself, now I might be a rare incident but that shouldn't even happen to any student to begin with.

Party Scene: University of Maryland College Park has a better party scene but aside from that our own is incredible. The weekend at Towson University really starts on Thursday and Ends Sunday, you can always find a party Thursday through Saturday but Sunday is recovery and study day.

3 College Freshman

Campus Food: It's not like 5 star but its not terrible as long as you stay far far away from Glen Dining Hall

Campus Housing: It was incredible for the semester I was there. I couldn't go there this semester due to financial reasons but I plan to return Fall 2015 but while i was there it was incredible. The social environment is great, I miss it like crazy. The academic environment is good as well a lot of Bio, Education and Com Sci majors(I am one myself) and a good library that's usually open until 2 a.m

Off-Campus Dining: There are a few places by the mall and off of York Road. If you're willing to head into Baltimore, there are so many more options

Administration: It's hard to visit friends in other dorms. They have to come down and sign you in even if you're a Towson student.

Scholarships: I had a lot of trouble getting my financial aid. It took awhile for my scholarships to be processed and so I was overcharged for the semester.

Party Scene: I don't party. The people that do usually drink in their dorms before going out somewhere, either to a bar or to someone's apartment. It's loudest on Thursday and Friday nights.

Campus Food: I'm vegan and it can be hard to find food that works for me, but Towson has a lot of options. I can get a smoothie at Jamba Juice or a bagel at Einstein's for breakfast. West Village has a vegetarian section at the dining hall, but sometimes those options don't really appeal to me, so I'll go to their pasta bar, stir fry station, salad bar, or just make a PB+J sandwich. It's super easy to be vegetarian here.

Campus Housing: I live in the West Village dorms. They're pretty nice, fairly spacious, and they have their own bathroom, so only my roommate and I have to share. Socially, my hall has a lot of partyers, and if you're not in that crowd, people don't really get together. I'm moving in the honors dorm (Douglass) next semester, and they're a whole lot more social.

Overall ExperienceWhat's this?

Towson is the type of school that, if you find the right people, you will have a wonderful experience. For those who have trouble making friends, it is highly recommended to get involved on campus. There are many organizations and sports teams that thrive in Towson and are strongly recommended in order to assist students in finding a solid group of friends. Some students love Towson so much that they just cannot pinpoint exactly what it is that they love so much. Perhaps it is the attentive faculty at Towson or the nightlife that has so much to offer. Maybe they just enjoy the small, comfortable campus setting that allows them to pass by familiar faces every day.

Towson is a school that becomes what you make of it. It is clear that the students who are engaged in their work or are interested in an organization gain a greater sense of appreciation for Towson. Some students express how rewarding their experiences at Towson have been while acknowledging the fact that the University is not for everyone.
