College Freshman

Campus Housing: I did not live on campus because I stayed at home and commuted everyday to my classes. However, from my classmates and friends' stories, it appears the dorms appear to be decent. It was the lack of bathrooms and rushing to be the first to use it in some of the residence hall that made it difficult for some. On the other hand, I believe the students were able to form new friendships and relationships throughout.

College Freshman

Off-Campus Housing: I'm not quite sure how to rate this since I don't live on-campus nor off-campus (apartments). I still live at my house and commute to my classes. However, based on the stories of my friends, it appears that there are a lot of options for housing outside the campus. The only difficulty is being able to pay the expenses and finding the right roommates.

Off-Campus Dining: The off-campus dining seems to be a huge variety of options, adding to the fact that the university is close to the mall. With the Panera, Chipotle and Qudoba, couple blocks away; with Starbucks and Dunkin' Donuts, a little walk; with fastfood and restaurants in the mall, students can have a break from the dining halls and on-campus food options.

Administration: I believe the school provides a lot of resources to inform the students regarding administration policies. But I think they should put more enforcement to really engage the students to understand the importance of following and obeying the rules and policies.

College Freshman

Scholarships: In my situation, I can't apply for financial aid because I am not a U.S. citizen and I only hold a dependent visa.

Campus Food: I definitely enjoyed eating at the Newell dining hall. I appreciated all the variety of meals and the fact that it was like a buffet with desserts. But I loved eating the Susquehanna because of the Chick-Fil A and sushi food area. It would be a lot better if they sold more edible soups.

Scholarships: The school isn't the Issue for me. It's mostly my moms taxes that's affecting my financial aid process. As for tips I'd say make sure to get everything done early bother your parents constantly so that you get financial aid and FAFSA done before everyone else.

3 College Sophomore

Campus Food: The food needs more seasoning but it does not taste too bad.

4 College Sophomore

Campus Housing: Well its a great experience to grow as a person and as an adult. It makes you open up even when youre uncomfortable and you get to bevome even more sociable.

3 College Freshman

Off-Campus Housing: Some palaces charge a lot but others dont.

4 College Freshman

Party Scene: Everyone goes out on Thursdays. Local clubs see a lot of action.

4 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: Fun to go off campus and enjoy non-dining hall food.

3 College Freshman

Administration: the strict parking and visitation rules are a hassle.

3 College Freshman

Scholarships: They need to open more scholarship opportunities to students who did not live in the Baltimore area.

Campus Food: Certain places have really good food. Sometimes fruit is bad in the dining halls and the food can be really greasy.

4 College Freshman

Campus Housing: Feels like the whole campus is a family. Always stuff to go do.

Off-Campus Housing: Thankfully Towson is located in a residential area so there are tons of off-campus living options.

Party Scene: As long as you knew the right people, you could find a good party on any night of the week.

Off-Campus Dining: Off-campus dining is much better than on-campus, though be mindful that these places may cost more per meal.

Administration: I felt the University was open about their policies but I never had to deal with them.

2 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Housing: It seems like everyone lives in the same complexes, which can be nice for community but you don't have a ton of options. If you have a car, check out places in Baltimore.

2 College Sophomore

Party Scene: Towson weekends are usually the same. A few people manage to find decent parties, most either drink in their dorms or go to the bars.

4 Recent Alumnus

Scholarships: I received financial aid without having to hassle the office and everything was clear. Information was also easy to find.

4 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Dining: Food in Towson is pretty great, and if you're willing to trek to Baltimore you have all the choices you could ever want.

3 Recent Alumnus

Campus Food: Campus dining halls were nothing special; it was the specialty cafes that made dining on campus much more enjoyable.

Towson is the type of school that, if you find the right people, you will have a wonderful experience. For those who have trouble making friends, it is highly recommended to get involved on campus. There are many organizations and sports teams that thrive in Towson and are strongly recommended in order to assist students in finding a solid group of friends. Some students love Towson so much that they just cannot pinpoint exactly what it is that they love so much. Perhaps it is the attentive faculty at Towson or the nightlife that has so much to offer. Maybe they just enjoy the small, comfortable campus setting that allows them to pass by familiar faces every day.

Towson is a school that becomes what you make of it. It is clear that the students who are engaged in their work or are interested in an organization gain a greater sense of appreciation for Towson. Some students express how rewarding their experiences at Towson have been while acknowledging the fact that the University is not for everyone.
