2 College Senior

Scholarships: they only offer it twice a year based on my observations

5 College Junior

Transportation: What's better then no commute?

4 College Senior

Overall Experience: It's a distance learning program!

1 College Senior

Majors: I am not happy at all but I want to just finish school and get my degree.

5 College Junior

Diversity: Diversity in a college doesn't matter to me. I'm happy not having to deal with other people.

5 College Junior

Overall Experience: I haven't had any problems with the school. Every potential problem I had was fixed immediately.

5 College Junior

Scholarships: I simply sent my tax information to the school and was accepted for Army Tuition Assistance and financial aid.

5 College Junior

Majors: I had no problem getting into my degree. The Army backed up my admission.

Off-Campus Dining: Even though I don't live in the area, a simple Google search pointed me to a few very well ranked restaurants in the New Jersey area.

4 College Junior

Scholarships: I didn't have a problem with financial aid at all. I got a hold of the office when I contacted them.

4 College Junior

Academics: Online courses tend to be demanding and I find that all of my professors that i have encountered have been helpful and professional. Some have different expectations of the students than others but that comes with each persons different personality.

4 College Junior

Diversity: Being an online student at TESC I have met people from all over the United States and with many different ethnical backgrounds and experiences.

Majors: Good variety of online degree programs, but they could definitely add more. I hope they will add more graduate programs because I would love to do my MA through Thomas Edison.

Weather: NJ weather is great if you like having four seasons and don't mind rain, snow, sleet, and ice during the colder months.

4 Recent Alumnus

Scholarships: Process was fairly smooth, but contacting Financial Aid at the school was a little difficult.

Local Area: Trenton has one of the highest murder rates in America, alongside Camden, Newark, Detroit and Miami. There is no atmosphere, everyone is afraid to go into Trenton at night. I have tried to start get togethers and clubs , but it is impossible since the students are from all over the country . There are no sports, so no opportunity for sports scholarships. I asked if the college could start internships, but was told that majority of the students are already working. Maybe what I am saying is that I regret wasting my money at this college.

Administration: Because this is an online school, you have to be very diligent to hand in assignments on time. Some professors will not accept them after the due date- no matter what your excuse is. In my instance I was forced to leave my apartment right after the final essays were due. By mistake I emailed another course's essays. My professor gave me a "D", which I discovered 2 months later since I was living in a homeless shelter ( in a tent) and did not have access to the library to check on my grades ( I had pets which could not be left alone as teh other residents were not dependable and someone had their dog stolen- I was not leaving my older dog alone) . He never even bothered to send me an email saying that I sent the wrong essays. I fled my apartment for fear of my life, it wasn't like I was on vacation. I had to live in a Tent City homeless shelter and had no access to the internet. The professor refused to sign the papers for a grade appeal, so I had to take a D and repeat the class in September.

Majors: Thomas Edison State College offers many different programs within healthcare. I would recommend them to others both in healthcare and other interests.

4 Recent Alumnus

Campus Quality: Thomas Edison State College is located in downtown Trenton, NJ. The buildings are well maintained, the staff is helpful, and there are many online options available for adult learners.

Majors: I am very happy that TESC offers an Accelerated Nursing Program. I already have a Bachelor's Degree and this allows me to complete a Bachelor's in Nursing in just one year. I am so excited to become a nurse. I feel it is a womnderful career that will allow me to help many people. Nurses save lives. I am confident that I will be able to find a job even in this tough economy because nurses are always in demand. I can hardly wait to get started!

3 College Sophomore

Majors: I'm working on my BA in Social Sciences. I enjoy it because I feel like I have a lot of freedom in choosing my classes and making the degree more about what I enjoy and want out of it then some programs it's "You WILL take this class and this class" for the entire program and your electives are all you get to pick. I feel like the online programs are limited and perhaps this isn't the program I would have picked there been more options available for me at the time. I started this school to get my Associates and am getting my Bachelor's through them because it's easier that way. The school isn't expensive, and the classes aren't overloaded and the school accepts credit from all different sources. Which is important when in the Military. Though it's difficult to get 'real' mentoring and advising unless you just happen to get lucky.

3 College Freshman

Campus Quality: Not really a live on campus so amenities are somewhat limited.

5 College Freshman

Campus Quality: I think the historic feel of this college should be enough to keep it as a fixture in the community forever. The staff is always willing to help despite the lack of certain amenities a larger college would offer.

4 College Freshman

Health & Safety: I have never heard anything negative about the health or saftey conditions

5 College Junior

Majors: large variety of choices. I had no problem with deciding what i wanted to do and they offer alot
