4 College Sophomore

Campus Resources: I write poetry in my spare time and there was several activities that catered to that; one of those activities was an open mic and the other one was a poetry contest. The library provided me with computer to use when mine was broken. The staff was incredibly helpful at the student center. There were bulletin boards all over campus that provided everyone with helpful information.

3 College Sophomore

Campus Resources: The tutoring center could be stronger. When I was taking Calc 1, the tutor that was suppose to be for Calc just stared at the problems in confusion

3 College Freshman

Campus Resources: Tutors are mostly students and are only helpful sometimes. Library has a good amount of books and resources but charges 10 cent a copy. They need to upgrade to digital scanners that send the images directly to email accounts. Athletic center is large but the fitness gym is small. There are always activities going on around, but not as much as a four year college has.

5 College Freshman

Campus Resources: the resources on the campus are great.

3 College Senior

Campus Resources: They are redoing a lot of the buildings which is adding to the campus and improving it.

One of the best campus resources is tutoring for math, reading, and writing. With reading, the tutor assists in improving vocabulary skills, reading comprehension, and spelling. For writing, tutoring gets into detail with thesis statements, essays, research papers, and grammar and mechanics. Lastly, there are tutors for all types and levels of math, so there is no need to worry about failing a math course. At CCBC, the tutor service will match up students with the right tutor, who can sometimes be a professional or even a peer. Tutor request forms are available in the Student Success Center. Tutoring is also available online through OWL (Online Writing Lab) and ELMO (Essex Learning Math Online). People at CCBC are eager to help any student that needs assistance.

Other campus resources include counseling, child care, career services, academic advisement, and SIMON. Counseling is for any student that wants to talk something out with a professional. Child care is a convenient and affordable resource for moms and dads going to school; while they're in class, the little one can be learning something at daycare. With academic advising, the adviser helps schedule classes, find scholarships, map out the two-year plan for graduation, find transfer schools, and register students for placement tests. SIMON is where students can find all of their records, from transcripts to final grades. A student can register for classes, drop or add classes, check midterm and final grades, and view his or her schedule and financial aid awards. It's all there! Even if a person doesn't want to make an appointment on campus to register for classes, he or she can do it online using SIMON.

  • End-of-the-year cookout/celebration: Every year, CCBC rewards its students for their hard work. This is sort of a goodbye for the students who are transferring in the fall. There is usually grilled food, games, moon bounces, live performances, face painting, and contests. The students have a blast!
  • Job fairs: Job fairs are a big hit at CCBC. Job fairs are for students seeking employment anywhere in Baltimore County. Not only are there jobs at the job fairs, but there are also internships.
