Athletics: We don't have sports here at the conservatory.

Overall Experience: I am having some of my most memorable times here.

Health & Safety: Our campus security is incredible. They are visible to the students and I know that there's a number of them that I talk to on a regular basis and they know my name. Since we're a city campus and not a closed one, they offer escorts form building to building at night, if you feel unsafe about walking to and from building by yourself. The blue emergency phones are at every academic building and there's one every other dorm building. The dorms are on key card system so the only way that you can get in is with a key.

Overall Experience: The liberal arts courses are very specific. The most general course that everyone has to take is a writing workshop class. all other liberal arts are about very specific topisc in art and history and science and foreign language. The professors are very commited to their courses and their students and are more often than not, almost always available when we need help outside of the course. The class sizes are incredibly small, which is really only possible because of the small student body. The cut off size for most of the LA classes is 10 or 15 students. The attention is very much individualized and the courses are often tailored to the students who are enrolled in the class.

Campus Housing: All freshmen are required to live on campus. Most people opt to move off campus after their freshmen year so the lottery process is somewhat easy for upperclassmen, however, there aren't that many dorm buildings the lottery only opens once all freshmen registered and it is determined how many dorms are open after that. The dorms are incredibly small, as they are historic brownstones. They are aboslutely beautiful, but very old. Some buildings are more spacious than others, but all of them are equally beautiful. Most buildings have at most 50 residents and one RA is assigned to each building. They definitely feel like a small community and I know everyone who lives in my building, and most of the people that live in the others considering the student body is so incredibly small. The environment is very family like, very supportive and open, not too much drama happens inside the dorms themselves.

Overall Experience: Attending this school has probably been the most eye opening experience of my life. I knew I wanted to attend a conservatory, but what I assumed a conservatory would be like is nothing like The Boston Conservatory is, and I am so glad about that. Yes, I do get to study intently in my artistic specialty, dance, but I also get to explore other areas of the arts like voice, certain facets of instrumental music, stage managment, and explore the concept of anit-disciplinary arts. Not only are opporunities like that available in my own school, but I also have the opportunity to take classes at other schools in the area in the arts consortium network, allowing me to explore even more artistic and academic areas of interest. There is also a plethora of opportunities for me to participate in performances as well as attend performances in the area for discounted or no price at all. Being located in the beautiful city of Boston is just an added bonus. There's always things to do on the weekend and with the large number of schools in the area, I've been able to meet students from lots of schools other than my own and have been able to be a part of a culturally rich and diverse group of friends. Attending The Boston Conservatory was the best decision for me and if I had to do it all over, I would still choose The Boston Conservatory.

Overall Experience: Classes (especially non-academic classes) are incredibly individualized and focused on the growth of each student as their own artist. With that said, some teachers are unprofessional in terms of incorporating personal beliefs over facts, or getting offended easily. However, the overwhelmingly vast majority of teachers are easy to work with, and all are valuable in terms of their experience in the field and willingness to support students. Teachers want to see their students succeed. Courses are mostly necessary and important, but some (especially academics) are less necessary.

Overall Experience: Lots of notable alumni, and bulletin boards near division offices are incredibly lengthy in terms of working alumni. Almost every national tour/Broadway show features BOCO alumni.

Campus Housing: Housing is only guaranteed for freshmen, and after that almost everyone lives off campus. With that said, housing is very comfortable freshman year. Dorms are almost all within a block of most classes. RAs are eager to help with student dilemmas of any kind, and dorms are small enough to feel like communities.

Overall Experience: The training here is the some of the best available for musical theater. The balance between the three disciplines is exactly what I was looking for, and I also get good training in music theory and related academic courses.

Off-Campus Housing: Living off campus is great. But finding a place is a hassle. Beware of realtors trying to manipulate inexperienced college students.

Campus Food: We share with the Berklee cafeteria. It has great food, but the hours are inconvenient for many BoCo Students.

Scholarships: Being realistic about the size of the school and location, I'm lucky that I received the financial aid I did. With new projects to better our school, I feel like they do what they can. Compared to some schools, scholarships aren't great, but this is a very different situation. Conservatory of 700 vs. a university of thousands will make for different standards.

Guys & Girls: As a girl I have a good time. Most of community is girls and gays, so there's no pressure on the dating scene. And they are fierce...this school has some good looking people. No distractions in class. On down side, if you want to date, and you aren't a gay man, you have to look beyond BoCo. But that isn't so bad (can anyone say Harvard boys?!)

Overall Experience: Broadway school. If you're an artist, there's no better place. Boston is also the best college city in the world. Teachers know each student individually. Students are one big family. Best choice I've ever made.
