4 College Senior

Local Area: Theres many places to visit, especially when you want to be outdoors. There's the river, many many trails, dog parks, golfing, water sports, and sand volley ball all the time in summer. There are plenty of shopping places, local shops as well. Events happen often, mostly music shows.

Local Area: The stuff to do right around campus are fun (i.e. restaurants, stores, bars) however, nothing really stays open that late. You can't do anything on the weekend unless you have a car because the shuttle doesn't go anywhere exciting. It doesn't even go to the Walmart. Not many cultural events or sports things to do. The fun things are in San Antonio and Austin which, again, you need a car for.

San Marcos, Texas is a nice, quiet, little town. It has a real hometown feel to it. The locals are friendly to students, the traffic really isn't that bad (unless a train comes through, then traffic can get backed up), and the San Marcos River really ties the community together.

Local businesses are very receptive to the needs of students. They offer special discounts, ranging from free car inspections and apartment locating to discounted meals or drinks. San Marcos is also about a 30-minute drive from Austin's infamous Sixth Street. Plus, there are party buses that take you from San Marcos to Austin and back, so you don't have to drive.
