The Texas State campus is all about keeping the student body safe. There are numerous emergency phones around campus, as well as police centers at both ends of the campus. Texas State is also very vigilant when sending out any precautionary e-mails, from messages about cars being broken into to suspicious persons being cited to road closures.
Students should be aware of the safe and not-so safe parts of campus. The safest areas tend to be the dorms and well-lit areas. It should be a rule of thumb not to walk around by yourself at night, though. But if night walks alone are your fancy, you will feel safe doing so around the Texas State campus. The unsafest parts tend to be the areas where construction is going on, even if these areas are thoroughly blocked off to prevent accidental injuries. The streets tend to be a bit scary, especially when it rains. There is a lot of oil that rises above the water on the roads, and unfortunately, drivers around here tend to forget that.
