Campus Food: Freshmen go into the start of college with the determination to not gain the "freshman 15", but with the extreme amount of unhealthy food compared to healthy food it is nearly impossible not to gain weight.

Campus Food: At the Round Rock campus of Texas State University, the meal options are very limited. It's vending machine snacks without the vending machine. A few options include sandwiches, burgers, and frozen meals (burritos). The frozen meals would be "ok," except paper plates and/or napkins are not provided to place your meals on in order to heat up in the microwave. Very limited variety of healthy food (only a few fruit plates available in the refrigerated section.) Foods mainly consist of chips, candy, ice cream, etc. If you don't bring your own food to class, you're going to pig out on junk food.

Campus Food: Overall, very good selection of food on campus. Nice variety and prices aren't outrageous.

Texas State has a variety of food choices. There are two buffets on campus, and both have a special grill where you can request food like omelets and stir-fry made the way you like it. Every dining hall has either a salad bar or a place where you can have a gourmet salad made for you. Texas State tries to provide some healthier options for on-campus dining. The most popular food court, and the one open the latest, is Jones Dining Hall.

Since prices are a bit high without a meal plan, if you don't live on campus, you may want to pack your own lunch. The other option would be just to get a meal plan, which isn't too expensive. You can start using your meal trades at 10:30 a.m. at the Lair, while at all other places you can use meal trades as soon as they open.
