Administration: Campus strictness is serious around here, but for all the right reasons. Considering that this school is widely thought of as a "party school", the restrictions are largely needed.

3 College Freshman

Off-Campus Housing: The off-campus housing is sub-par at best, but the university tries to help pinpoint the best places to stay.

5 College Freshman

Guys & Girls: Diversity is a huge thing here. Everyone encourages people to be themselves.

Greek Life: There's, from what I've seen, lots of opportunities to join Greek life as they are always in the Quad advertising what they do. They have their own houses, but it isn't required to stay in one. Yes, some of them are responsible for the big parties, but not all of them are about that life.

Off-Campus Dining: Dining off campus is usually a fun time!

Greek Life: Greek life is great for networking and meeting new people. There are many choices when it comes to Greek life at Texas state university.

Scholarships: It is a terrible wait to speak to someone over the phone. The office is very crowded, depending on what time you go, the wait is usually near 30-45 minutes. They are helpful with getting you the resources you need to get financial aid here.

Local Area: There is a lot to do overall on campus, as well as other popular spots here in San marcos.

4 College Freshman

Academics: Good library hours and resources, math lab, writing center, free tutoring, etc.

3 College Freshman

Athletics: Unless you are a varsity athlete, most students don't care.

3 College Freshman

Campus Food: The food on campus is decent.

5 College Freshman

Campus Quality: Texas state is very accepting of the diverse community. There is a lot to do around campus, and a lot of resources available for students. Very friendly people, and well educated faculty and staff/professors. Texas state is the place to be!

4 College Freshman

Party Scene: Good social scene, it's a good place to meet cool people.

4 College Freshman

Academics: My major is Criminal Justice and Texas State has a good program for that. The professors are great and they do the best that they can to make sure that you succeed. Throughout the year there is always someone that visits the classroom to talk about job opportunities.

3 College Freshman

Campus Housing: Definitely not the greatest Campus Housing but there are so many options to choose from, there are very new residence halls and old ones as well. The social atmosphere is amazing and it is affordable. The housing process was not complicated at all.

3 College Freshman

Party Scene: Texas State is rumored to be a "party school" but it's only on the weekends and they are not too crazy.

Health & Safety: The safety on campus is good, there is rarely any crime on campus and when there is off-campus crime, emails are sent to all of the students and faculty to be aware and watch their surroundings when they leave campus.

Campus Food: There is a huge variety of campus dining. The hours are great and convenient as well. One of the main dining areas (Jones) closed for construction, but all the other dining locations extended their hours which is great. The locations are evenly spread out throughout campus and the quality of the food is overall good.

3 College Freshman

Greek Life: I do not have much knowledge about the Greek Life at Texas State but I have spoken to a couple of students who are part of Greek life and they say that they enjoy it very much.

4 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: Texas State University is located in San Marcos which is a small college town therefore, there is a lot of convenient locations for students and a good variety of restaurants.

4 College Freshman

Athletics: Athletics at Texas State are a big part of campus life. Even though we are no where near close to being the best in the country, whether it's football or basketball, the sport events still bring students together. The school spirit is very high and students are proud, supportive, and show great pride for Texas State University.

3 College Freshman

Athletics: The sports facilities are great for students to workout and maintain good fitness after a rough exam or a bad breakup. The athletics at my school is not that great but at the same time is improving. The best sports that we excel in is Girls Volleyball and Track other than that the sports that are popular amongst the public like basketball and football, is not really contenders in the college competitions but are improving.

Off-Campus Dining: I don't eat off campus that much but once in a while I would stop at a nearby Taco Bell or Sonic, there are other options but its your regular fast food joints. Not much restaurants nearby, the ones that are there are usually very packed and full of drunkards. I am not that picky, but it would be good if we had more cuisine, sit inns that cater to the needs of college students like a filling meal for an economical price.

3 College Freshman

Guys & Girls: There are a lot of girls and guys that are from different backgrounds and have different personalities. It is like a melting pot, so it is hard to put a specific generalization on the students at my school.

Texas State is such a friendly, open, accepting university. It's not a super huge college, so the people aren't stuck-up or cocky like you might find at bigger universities. It's very relaxed on campus, and there's a very chill atmosphere surrounding the city of San Marcos, as well. You can feel at home at Texas State, and you'll be surprised to find how easy it is to make friends.

Texas State is superb in making sure its students are offered the opportunities they need to gain skills that will make them the most competitive in their field. Being a smaller university makes it even easier for academic advisers and professors to take the extra time to talk to students one-on-one about their future career paths. The professors and advisers are always eager to help.
