Party Scene: There is always something going on, and if it seems like the place where you are at is not for you... Night swims at the river always are a good idea.

Guys & Girls: I guess that since this rating is coming from someone who is very careful with relationships, my review can be a little bit biased, but there are really nice guys and girls here. Just like everywhere else you may also coma across some careless people, but there are definitely great opportunities to meet awesome people.

Off-Campus Housing: Most of the places around campus are over priced but if you go to the apartments down Aquarena they're all extremely competitive in pricing and have a range of different qualities.

5 College Freshman

Health & Safety: San Marcos, like any area with a lot of people, has a few crimes but there almost always off campus. It's always safe on campus and the student health center is in a pretty good spot and has everything you need.

3 College Freshman

Weather: If you don't like the weather in Texas, just wait five minutes.

Overall Experience: I can't imagine going to college anywhere else. San Marcos is the perfect place to be to experience college at its fullest.

3 College Freshman

Campus Housing: It depends on where you are, some of the dorms are fantastic and some are run down and old. The thing that makes the dorms great here aren't the buildings, but the people in them.

4 College Freshman

Majors: I'm Theatre P&P and it's great, I just wish the school had an RTF department.

4 College Freshman

Diversity: The campus is very diverse and everyone is tolerant and respectful of each others opinions for the most part.

5 College Freshman

Local Area: San Marcos is a great place to live, there's loads to do and everyone on and off campus is friendly.

5 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: There's always new foods and places to try, and it's all pretty well priced.

3 College Freshman

Athletics: The sporting events are fun to go to and tailgate but it's not a huge deal.

3 College Freshman

Transportation: Not a lot of options other than campus shuttle, but it isn't hard to get around.

4 College Senior

Health & Safety: i think the university does a great job on security, there are phones along the sidewalk for escort along the night. i feel safe walking alone during the day, i have never had to walk alone across campus at night.

4 College Senior

Guys & Girls: there is a great variety of personalities all over campus. in my department everybody seems friendly and easy to talk to.

5 College Senior

Weather: texas weather is unpredictable. there have been several times when school has been cancelled and the university does a great job on announcing school closure because of weather forecasts.

3 College Senior

Majors: just keep up your GPA

2 College Senior

Majors: i am happy with the program, however my only complain would be having to register for classes, i wish there was more options open. its really hard to get into one course when there is more than 100 people trying to register for the same course.

4 College Senior

Campus Housing: i lived on campus on my freshman year and there are some friendly people, the atmosphere feels great. i personally loved living in sam marcos, its a great town.

5 College Senior

Technology: i personally love that there is a computer lab available in every building, printing on campus is great as well (double sided- which i highly appreciate). i have carried my computer/ipad and I'm able to get within the network within seconds, and internet speed is great. i do not have any complaints about computers access at school.

3 College Senior

Off-Campus Dining: I have been to several local dining places within campus, however theres is not much variety and prices ranges from 5 and above. places off campus do offer university discounts but its only a few places.

3 College Senior

Athletics: In my opinion, sports don't play a big part of campus life. the university does a good job on promoting sports through emails and posters, however not many students seem to take much interest on the university sports.

4 College Senior

Diversity: when it comes to college diversity at Texas State, there is all kinds of different people but everyone seems to respect one another. whether is different beliefs, religious background, ethnicity, or sexual orientation; students seem to have the freedom to share their opinions with the respect of their fellow companions.

3 College Senior

Off-Campus Housing: pros about living on campus would be availability to the bus routes at all times of the day, buses are constantly running every 10 mins or so. parking is always available close to campus along with bus routes.

3 College Freshman

Weather: We have a rainy season where it rains just about everyday. Since it is south in Texas it does get very hot and humid especially when you're going up all of the hills, but we do have the river to cool off in.

Texas State is such a friendly, open, accepting university. It's not a super huge college, so the people aren't stuck-up or cocky like you might find at bigger universities. It's very relaxed on campus, and there's a very chill atmosphere surrounding the city of San Marcos, as well. You can feel at home at Texas State, and you'll be surprised to find how easy it is to make friends.

Texas State is superb in making sure its students are offered the opportunities they need to gain skills that will make them the most competitive in their field. Being a smaller university makes it even easier for academic advisers and professors to take the extra time to talk to students one-on-one about their future career paths. The professors and advisers are always eager to help.
