Local Area: San Marcos it focused a lot around the University. In San Marcos it has a huge outlet mall so there are tons of shopping around here and you cant find almost anything you need. The river is a very popular event along with tubing espicially. Tubing is a very popluar thing to do around this area. Local attitude is average around here for a college town.

Administration: The campus is very reasonable on their policies and make it clear as to what they are. The University Police Department works very hard to keep the campus safe and enforce their policies.

4 College Freshman

Majors: Programs here are very active and they encourage you greatly to be active in them.

Campus Housing: Living on campus your first year is very convenient. No matter what you will have alot of walking to do at Texas State University but living on campus gives you more time to get ready in the morning since you dont have to drive or get on the bus.

5 College Freshman

Technology: There are lots of computer labs on campus. While there is one in the library Alkek, there is almost one in every classroom building if you look for it. You can find where these computer labs are online on the university website. The network reliability is pretty good, sometimes in the dorms it is a bit unstable. The need for a personal computer is great, since you turn in homework or papers online in multiple classes. A personal printer isn't necessary. At the library you can print tons of work for free with your NetID along with at any other computer lab.

Academics: Texas State has a great Radiation Therapy program and from what I've seen they are active in trying to get new students to participate with others in with the same major. This university is huge on trying to get students to be active in programs. I have recieved emails from upperclass Radiation Therapy majors offering for first year students to join their Relay For Life team and meet others in the same field. The program is greatly recognized and has a great rating.

Greek Life: I notice the Greek life at our school, but if you don't join it's not really that big of a deal. I don't really mind the Greek students and vice versa. Greek housing is off campus along with some live in dorms if they are first year students.

Athletics: The student's here have great school spirit and it's really amazing to see! Everyone is very proud of our school and it's growing name!

Health & Safety: Texas State does all it can to ensure the safety of it's student body. It provides Bobcat Buddies to take you somewhere if you feel unsafe along with I constantly see the University Police Department around campus. Just like any other campus, there are crimes, but we get a immediate alert texted or emailed to the students letting us know of the crime and what to look out for.

4 College Freshman

Drug Safety: Texas State University greatly enforces its no drugs and alcohol on campus along with other ways to have fun. This includes there Bobcat Build and Tailgating before games. I have never felt peer pressured while attending Texas State and love going to this school!

4 College Junior

Diversity: The diversity on campus is great. I never see anyone judging someone because they look different or are interested in the same sex.

4 College Junior

Local Area: There are many attractions to do around San Marcos. Lots of shopping places and bars are the most popular. Also, when the weather warms up, the San Marcos river is where you need to be.

4 College Junior

Athletics: Being a bobcat, we take pride in supporting each other. School spirit is always at its high level and I always to marketing posters around campus to attend the games.

3 College Junior

Greek Life: There are a lot of sororities and fraternities at Texas State University. The atmosphere is very positive and I sometimes to see people talking about Greeks in a bad way.

3 College Junior

Drug Safety: I have not seen any sort of drug and alcohol visibility. I know that professors and staff are always on the lookout.

5 College Junior

Technology: There are so many computer labs that students have access to. The internet is fast and doesn't take long to get in and get out of the computer lab before going to class.

4 College Junior

Off-Campus Dining: There are many different restaurants that are surrounding Texas State University. So that's always good to be able to have a larger variety.

3 College Junior

Weather: This semester has not been the best weather situations. The campus is on a hill and it gets very windy. And every time I'm on campus, it's raining which is not fun.

3 College Junior

Party Scene: I enjoy going to a few bars downtown San Marcos. They have plenty of taxis for everyone's safety.

5 College Freshman

Scholarships: I've never had any problems.

Texas State is such a friendly, open, accepting university. It's not a super huge college, so the people aren't stuck-up or cocky like you might find at bigger universities. It's very relaxed on campus, and there's a very chill atmosphere surrounding the city of San Marcos, as well. You can feel at home at Texas State, and you'll be surprised to find how easy it is to make friends.

Texas State is superb in making sure its students are offered the opportunities they need to gain skills that will make them the most competitive in their field. Being a smaller university makes it even easier for academic advisers and professors to take the extra time to talk to students one-on-one about their future career paths. The professors and advisers are always eager to help.
