Administration: The parking services department makes it difficult to drive to campus and learn. Not many parking spots are available whether you buy a parking permit or not.

Academically everything is pretty fair. It is based upon the students effort and willingness to learn. However some courses are difficult to understand the concept by just listening in a lecture.

Scholarships: Every college requires students to go through the red tape. It's just a part of the process.

3 College Junior

Athletics: Good athletic program, but nothing compared to having the Longhorns close by.

4 College Junior

Overall Experience: It's a great school. Some classify it as a party school, but that all depends on you.

3 College Junior

Weather: It gets pretty hot in Texas, so if you're okay with that, you'll be fine here.

4 College Junior

Transportation: Bus schedules work well with class times. If you're willing to walk, you will have no trouble finding parking.

4 College Junior

Local Area: Not far from Austin and San Antonio, which makes it a great place to live.

3 College Junior

Party Scene: I don't really care for night life as I'm a commuter student.

4 College Junior

Technology: Great computer labs all around campus. I never bring my computer.

Off-Campus Housing: Depending on where you live, there are great options.

Guys & Girls: I'm married. I don't care.

Parking: Since San Marcos is currently under some construction going on it can be a bit frustrating to find parking off campus, but the projection says that by the beginning of the fall semester of 2014 the major repairs by the square will be finished.

Greek Life: Every place has its best and worst individuals, and in Texas State there is really no clear difference between Greeks and non-Greeks, there are come crazy ones on both sides, and even though I am not one of them I've had the pleasure to become friends with some awesome Greeks.

Health & Safety: There is always security agents near, ands with the new implementation of the blue buttons (911 speed call) there is always a more safe feeling.

4 College Student

Drug Safety: I like that people understand if you say that you are not interested. They respect tour decisions.

5 College Student

Scholarships: Everyone who works at the financial aid department is very helpful. They always provide with alternatives in case there is some difficulty in the process.

4 College Student

Local Area: It is a very charming place to live at. Very close to Austin invade there is some urge to visit s large city.

4 College Student

Transportation: Awesome prices, good services. In general very convenient, keeping in mind that San Marcos is a college town.

4 College Student

Off-Campus Dining: Great variety. There is always specialized places for different types of foods and occasions.

Off-Campus Housing: Well, we know that there is a lot of diversity at Texas State, and it seems like different apartment complexes are meeting specifically the needs of those different groups of people without forgetting the importance of education.

5 College Student

Majors: The communications design program is very competitive, asn I believe that it is the best way to prepare professionals.

4 College Student

Majors: Since the program is so rigorous, the selection process (through portfolio reviews) is very good to select the best students.

3 College Sophomore

Greek Life: It's pretty big, but there are still a fair amount of people that are not in greek life and are in many other organizations.

5 College Freshman

Off-Campus Housing: Off-campus housing selection is the best, everything is so new!

4 College Freshman

Weather: Local weather is typical of Texas weather... bipolar!

Texas State is such a friendly, open, accepting university. It's not a super huge college, so the people aren't stuck-up or cocky like you might find at bigger universities. It's very relaxed on campus, and there's a very chill atmosphere surrounding the city of San Marcos, as well. You can feel at home at Texas State, and you'll be surprised to find how easy it is to make friends.

Texas State is superb in making sure its students are offered the opportunities they need to gain skills that will make them the most competitive in their field. Being a smaller university makes it even easier for academic advisers and professors to take the extra time to talk to students one-on-one about their future career paths. The professors and advisers are always eager to help.
