Guys & Girls: The majority of the students here are great. It is very easy to meet new people, so long as you are actually willing. Most students are dressed in laid back clothes--a simple t-shirt and shorts--and are equally laid back themselves.

4 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Dining: I love eating off campus since there are so many restaurants just down the street from campus. The majority of restaurants have very good food and offer competitive prices.

Off-Campus Housing: I live off-campus. The availability and convenience has been really wonderful. However, the cost and the landlord situation really depends on where you live. Some landlords have a tendency to be really over-bearing, treating students as if they where children. The cost of most apartments is competitive, though still tough for most college. Many complexes attempt to make up for this by offering a great selection of amenities.

Overall Experience: I have really enjoyed my time here at Texas State. My professors, advisers and fellow students have all been really welcoming and accommodating.

4 College Sophomore

Academics: All of my upper level class professors have been great. I few of my core classes have been forgettable.

Transportation: San Marcos does not have a local airport, and there aren't any convenient buses that go between towns. Luckily, plenty of students have cars, and many of them are willing to carpool.

3 College Sophomore

Local Area: San Marcos a lovely small town. It has beautiful scenery and a beautiful river. There are plenty of cute little shops, restaurants and bars. The parking can be quite a problem, especially during weekends and has become even worse with all the construction downtown. Though there is much to do in town, it is close to Austin, which always has much more. when looking for diversity in off-campus activities, it is too much of a temptation to leave San Marcos.

Technology: While there are many computer labs on campus, many of the are only available to a limited audience--to those who belong to a certain major, or to classes that schedule it during a certain time. The labs that are available have excellent computers and hours, though getting to a computer right away requires a little extra planning during finals time.

Diversity: I transferred from a university with very little diversity, and the difference is very noticeable. There are many different kinds of people here. I feel much more comfortable now that I am no longer part of such a small minority. I feel that the students are all very accepting of all kinds of people. Texas State students are some of the kindest, friendliest people I have ever had the pleasure to meet.

Weather: If the day is pretty it is going to be a great day

4 College Junior

Majors: If you love your subject you will enjoy what you do

4 College Junior

Majors: Loved my internship but had no pay

3 College Junior

Academics: If you like what you are doing then it is easy

3 College Junior

Off-Campus Housing: Depending on how much you want to spend and how far you are from school depends on cost.

3 College Junior

Scholarships: I did not apply for financial aid

4 College Junior

Off-Campus Dining: Love how everything is close to campus if it is not on campus

4 College Junior

Party Scene: Their are always something going on so there is no need to be bored.

3 College Junior

Athletics: Sports would have more fans if they advertised about it more.

4 College Junior

Transportation: Transportation is always on time

3 College Student

Athletics: I am personally not a big sports fan, so I cannot really tell about varsity sporting evens. The one thin that is always talked about are intramural sports, and those are really talked about, fun, friendly activities.

4 College Student

Technology: It is very noticeable that the school has been remodeling and modernizing in many ways. Technology is one of the main sections with on-going updates, so in terms of technology the school is well equipped. In terms of availability, there are many computer labs, if the library is not your favorite place. Also the writing enter has computers available where students can work or use at any time with anything.

3 College Student

Campus Housing: This answer I believe has a lot to do with the place where different residents have stayed. Of course there are newer dorms that have nicer facilities or commodities, but over all the atmosphere in any residential hall that I have visited has been very friendly.

4 College Student

Party Scene: There is always something going on, and if it seems like the place where you are at is not for you... Night swims at the river always are a good idea.

3 College Student

Guys & Girls: I guess that since this rating is coming from someone who is very careful with relationships, my review can be a little bit biased, but there are really nice guys and girls here. Just like everywhere else you may also coma across some careless people, but there are definitely great opportunities to meet awesome people.

Off-Campus Housing: Most of the places around campus are over priced but if you go to the apartments down Aquarena they're all extremely competitive in pricing and have a range of different qualities.

Texas State is such a friendly, open, accepting university. It's not a super huge college, so the people aren't stuck-up or cocky like you might find at bigger universities. It's very relaxed on campus, and there's a very chill atmosphere surrounding the city of San Marcos, as well. You can feel at home at Texas State, and you'll be surprised to find how easy it is to make friends.

Texas State is superb in making sure its students are offered the opportunities they need to gain skills that will make them the most competitive in their field. Being a smaller university makes it even easier for academic advisers and professors to take the extra time to talk to students one-on-one about their future career paths. The professors and advisers are always eager to help.
