Overall Experience: My over all experience could be define as a hard transition. I loved that i have all this freedom but i didn't take into consideration my limits. I think i did a little bit more of everything except study. There for my grades where not the best that I changed that and am doing way better now. You have to prioritize.

Greek Life: I have no involvement with Greek life because it is way too expensive and i don't have money.

Athletics: I go to the rec fairly often and i have to admit it is great. The treadmill are awesome. The rock climbing wall is extraordinary. And there is always space in the weight lifting part of the rec. there is also a pool, and soccer courts on the top floors.

Off-Campus Housing: I am about to move out of the dorm, so i am about to experience the off campus housing. But from the research i have done I discovered it it cheaper, but some of them are farther away.

Off-Campus Dining: I haven't explore much of the off-campus dining, because i have a lot of meal swipes and not that much money. But ive herd Chipotle is good.

Administration: The campus police is always around dorms. but they are usually easy to get along with. I have not had any bad experiences.

Scholarships: My financial situation is no the best. My families Income last year was just above 25,000. So I received the most money that a student can get for financial aid. Which was still not enough. i still had to pay from my pocket about 3000 last semester and 4000 this semester.

Party Scene: There is always am apartment parties on the weekend. The people who are hosting the party usually just tell you to take some alcohol.

Campus Food: The food on campus is just above average. My favorite places to go eat are chick-fil-a and commons. Commons actually has a Mongolian grill, which is always serving the best food on campus. The smoothies they sale at the rec are also very delicious. The meal plans are a different matter. I was told our swipes from the fall semester would roll over to the spring semester and they haven't. I also have way more swipes that what i needed, and that considering I'm someone who has a pretty large appetite.

Campus Housing: It is great to live on campus. There is always social events going on in my dorm, so we get to interact with other students. Another great aspect of living on campus is that everything is close by. My classes are all walking distance, and all the dinning halls are also walking distance. The best thing about living on campus is that if anything happens to the room there is always someone to come help. for example our AC was leaking about a month a go, and with just a phone call someone came to fix it. There is also a lady that cleans our restroom every week.

Off-Campus Housing: The freedom of living off campus is totally worth it. The places nearest to campus are pretty upscale and pricey. In fact, there are tons of luxury style places to rent in San Marcos, if you want to pay the high rent. It is completely possible though, to find apartments that are nice and still cheaper than living on campus in an okay dorm.

Off-Campus Dining: It is loads better than the campus food, that's for sure.

3 College Sophomore

Administration: While you can get away with a lot of things, being sneaky... the administration does do it's best job to make sure all rules are being followed.

4 College Sophomore

Party Scene: I kind of got sick of partying after a while, but most Texas State parties I've been to I've made drunk friends and met lots of cool people.

Campus Food: It could taste a lot less fake. Flour tortillas taste like they were made by white people.

Campus Housing: The dorms that have the best room options are the ones that are ridiculously far from main campus and class rooms. The rooms that had great proximity to classes, had below average living situations.

Off-Campus Dining: Root Cellar, Grins, Taproom, Café on the Square, Alvin Ords, so many amazing restaurants in San Marcos.

3 College Sophomore

Scholarships: The reoccurring scholarship for having graduated in the top 10% of my high school class for each semester is nice.

Texas State is such a friendly, open, accepting university. It's not a super huge college, so the people aren't stuck-up or cocky like you might find at bigger universities. It's very relaxed on campus, and there's a very chill atmosphere surrounding the city of San Marcos, as well. You can feel at home at Texas State, and you'll be surprised to find how easy it is to make friends.

Texas State is superb in making sure its students are offered the opportunities they need to gain skills that will make them the most competitive in their field. Being a smaller university makes it even easier for academic advisers and professors to take the extra time to talk to students one-on-one about their future career paths. The professors and advisers are always eager to help.
