Greek Life: It's just as live as a very large school

4 College Freshman

Administration: I think it's just fine

5 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: There are so many options on food and it is all pretty darn good. It is also a plus that there is a lot of late dining.

Athletics: I really enjoy the rec center

3 College Freshman

Athletics: There is a mix of school spirit within the school body and the teams are decent.

3 College Freshman

Scholarships: I wish I had more options available on the school website and more application presentation

Off-Campus Housing: Location next to the football stadium is awesome.

4 College Freshman

Health & Safety: The health professions building has good student health services

5 College Freshman

Campus Quality: I love the location of it being between Austin and San Antonio. Also, the hilly campus is gorgeous

Off-Campus Dining: They have a variety of subways, chinese places, italian places and american places. My favorite though is Pluckers. Can't get enough of their wings, though its not too far from camps and cost is average, its always a good place to hangout and enjoy a game. Most other places are walking distance from campus if you don't wanna waste gas, but its a variety of choices.

Athletics: Tailgating is a huge student involvement, almost all the people you know will be there because its a great time to interact, eat great food, and enjoy a football game. Most of the games I have attended are full of school spirit and student attendance is huge. Because our school is a dry campus, it keeps things safer inside and outside of the stadium.

Greek Life: From what I have learned, the Greek houses are mainly for the president, secretary, etc. of the sorority/fraternity houses. Socially, greek usually interact with greek because they have more things in common and usually can hold events with one another. They do many things to give back to the community, so its not just parties and events.

Party Scene: I have only been to a few parties, which were mainly house parties. I don't go to frat parties; 1. its too crowded 2. I don't know anyone if any frats 3. they can get really crazy. When i go out, I mainly like to chill and hangout. Not get crazy and forget everything that happened. Usually thurs-saturday are when the "live" parties happen. I get invited to a few, but I guess I like netflix a little too much to go out all the time.

Majors: I have the opportunity to intern after I graduate with a four year degree. After looking into the internship, it requires the same amount of time as a full time job. The internship lasts about two and a half months, but because the internship hires their interns after they graduate, its totally worth it.

Local Area: The closest shopping center to my school is The Square. The square has lots of places to eat, shop for clothing and accessories, get tattoos or piercings, or at night (for 21+) bars and night clubs. A few minutes down from campus are the Outlet malls. Thats probably the best place to shop! The San Marcos River is probably the highlight, especially during summer, its a great way to hangout with friends and just relax in the warm sun!

Administration: For the most part, the main rules we should abide by are the rules that will help us stay on track and out of trouble. Administrators are only looking out for us and doing the best they can to protect the students and campus. From my experience, I think they're doing a great job so far. But having to teach a new class every year about the rules can't be easy.

Campus Housing: I live in a residential college, the atmosphere is full of freshman ready to live the college life and experience new things. Because I live in res college, the RA's constantly have social events with other res dorms for social learning. My dorm is somewhat old, it won't be renovated until 2016, but its in good condition. Housing processes was easy, I like my roommate, but for those who have trouble with their roommates, they are efficient when trading.

Guys & Girls: Every student is very accepting of others and the social groups are very diverse. No one gets left out or left behind, and most students have open minds and a positive attitude when meeting new people. We all dress in our own styles, mostly tennis shoes though because of all the stairs and hills, especially Alkek. The traditions is what keeps us close, like a family. Most of the people I have come to know are not in relationships or looking for one, I guess to keep school as a number one priority.

4 College Freshman

Scholarships: There was no trouble getting my scholarships and aid to be put on my account. They were organized and allowed plenty of time to get all money awards in before payments were due.

3 College Freshman

Campus Food: There are several pizza places within the dinning halls, including a lot of non-healthy american food like burgers, chicken tenders, pastas, etc. I've only seen one sandwich shop on campus and two smoothie shops. We need more variety in the food we eat and a little more healthier. Am i complaining of the food? No, I would just like to have healthier things though to keep me away from the bad food.

3 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: Mostly pizza shops and Chinese food.

Scholarships: Apply for everything early and don't wait. Read the fine print before it's to late. Apply for outside scholarships!!!

3 College Freshman

Campus Housing: The traditional dorms are really bad but they have a strong sense of community. The new dorms are great! The price is high.

Greek Life: You see Greeks but that's about it, they're nothing special.

5 College Freshman

Health & Safety: The campus is extremely safe you could walk alone at 2am and be fine. They have walking escorts from 7-2 then they have University Police to pick you up.

Texas State is such a friendly, open, accepting university. It's not a super huge college, so the people aren't stuck-up or cocky like you might find at bigger universities. It's very relaxed on campus, and there's a very chill atmosphere surrounding the city of San Marcos, as well. You can feel at home at Texas State, and you'll be surprised to find how easy it is to make friends.

Texas State is superb in making sure its students are offered the opportunities they need to gain skills that will make them the most competitive in their field. Being a smaller university makes it even easier for academic advisers and professors to take the extra time to talk to students one-on-one about their future career paths. The professors and advisers are always eager to help.
