Weather: It's Texas – Texas has weird weather, it's always changing. The weather hardly affects us, except for a few nights it froze over and had to cancel classes, but those are extremely rare cases. Other than that, The weather here is pretty average and sunny...and hot.

Local Area: San Marcos is a fun town full of lots of college students. students like to spend their time shopping at the Tanger and Prine outlets, They also enjoy going out on a fun night at the square, which a block full of bars. San Marcos is full of places to eat as well. And the best part, is that students get to enjoy laying out or floating the river right across from campus! Georges is a fun place to enjoy a nice cold beer and a game of pool right on campus. The riverfest is an annual festival we have on the river with live bands and fun events, games, and free stuff!

Athletics: We may not win all of our games but the our students love to get involved and show support and school spirit for all of our sports teams. Fliers are posted all over campus. Students also love to tailgate and fill up those seats.

Weather: Due to the heat during the summer, having to walk up and down stairs and hills all day makes the ability to sweat a lot higher.

5 College Senior

Drug Safety: I personally have never been encountered with drugs or alcohol on campus.

Weather: It's Texas. Hot, year round. Not a lot of fun walking up hills to get across campus. Fortunate for freshmen living in dorms they don't walk too far. Winter and spring time can be tricky. You go to your 8am class cold 60 degrees and come out around 10am to 80 degrees.

Campus Quality: Texas State quad area is a hub center for student orgs, frats, and sororities to reach out to the student body and bring light to situations going on with the university and the world. Texas Sate recently had its athletics programs moved up to Division I. Now going into the Sunbelt conference where te Bobcats are expected to dominated.

Off-Campus Dining: If I could eat out every day here I would. I miss the food there. I suggest Garcia's, Valentino's Pizza, Chimy's, Chuy's, Cafe on the Square, and River Pub & Grill (their buffalo and California chicken sandwiches are the best).

Scholarships: I am still having trouble dealing with my financial aid and it's extremely stressful since school is about to start. I might end up having to pull out a bank loan. However, last 2 semesters there were no problems.

Academics: Everything about Texas State is great. One thing I would change would be to take teacher evaluations under more consideration. Some professors I have had were not the best, but it's like that most colleges. I didn't get so lucky when signing up for classes and didn't get the teachers everyone suggested. A good way to solve this is ratemyprofessor.com. It's very accurate when dealing with comments at this particular school. Other than that I love it. The people and community is so friendly and I honestly believe you won't find that anywhere else.

Guys & Girls: Girls at San Marcos live to be fit and beautiful because we all love to float the river. Everyone wants to look good with their shirt off.

3 College Junior

Party Scene: If you like the club scene, go to the Square of San Marcos. It's fitting for everyone and you will have a good time!

Off-Campus Dining: A lot of choices, but I like to stay in my apartment or house to cook something beneficial.

3 College Junior

Campus Food: It honestly gets old after awhile, but that's the same for all schools.

3 College Junior

Weather: Its usually sunny which is perfect weather to hit up the San Marcos river, or just hang in the park. It does get really hot sometimes which is kind of lame. It doesn't rain that much, but when it does, it's always nice to have a pair of rainboots handy. There are a bunch of hills so if you're at the bottom, you're standing in a few puddles on your way up.

5 College Junior

Guys & Girls: The diversity of the men and women is insane. Their "types" range from cowboys and cowgirls to city boys and girls. We have the hippie/environmentalist type, as well as the party/fun type and the artsy, creative type. If you're looking for a certain type of person, you can be sure to find them here.

Campus Housing: If the dorms aren't the greatest, the hall directors transform them into a place you never want to leave. If the hall directors aren't that great, the perks of the dorm are usually what make them worthwhile.

1 College Junior

Parking: Most students won't dare move their vehicles because they know that once they move it will be almost impossible to get another parking. With this Fall's new outrageous parking permit prices, I'm sure there will be less students parking on campus.

5 College Junior

Diversity: There are so many groups and student organizations available for students of any ethnicity, race, sexual orientation, etc. It is a very accepting campus.

4 College Junior

Party Scene: The square is your biggest option for going to bars, but if you are not 21 it is not easy to get into. However, there are tons of free pool/house/apt/sagewood/frat parties to go to that are lots of fun!

3 College Sophomore

Campus Food: There are many places on campus to eat. You can definitely find something to eat no matter what your eating habits are.

4 College Sophomore

Campus Housing: There are so many possibilities in campus housing. They all are different and unique. Everyone can easily one to fit their lifestyle. It is first come, first serve.

5 College Sophomore

Majors: Personally, I haven't had an internship but there are a lot of places that can hook you up with one on campus! I am planning on obtaining one for next summer at a hospital!

5 College Sophomore

Weather: The weather at Texas State is just plain and simple TEXAS WEATHER. We have the occasional cold days, super cold days, cold and rainy, or just plain rain with a lot of humidity, or just hot and humid. That's Texas weather for ya.

5 College Sophomore

Technology: There are computers in every building you go into as well as printing labs. There are so many places to obtain a computer on campus! At the library every floor has a computer lab and printing stations, so its never a problem.

Texas State is such a friendly, open, accepting university. It's not a super huge college, so the people aren't stuck-up or cocky like you might find at bigger universities. It's very relaxed on campus, and there's a very chill atmosphere surrounding the city of San Marcos, as well. You can feel at home at Texas State, and you'll be surprised to find how easy it is to make friends.

Texas State is superb in making sure its students are offered the opportunities they need to gain skills that will make them the most competitive in their field. Being a smaller university makes it even easier for academic advisers and professors to take the extra time to talk to students one-on-one about their future career paths. The professors and advisers are always eager to help.
