Party Scene: I kind of got sick of partying after a while, but most Texas State parties I've been to I've made drunk friends and met lots of cool people.

Campus Food: It could taste a lot less fake. Flour tortillas taste like they were made by white people.

Campus Housing: The dorms that have the best room options are the ones that are ridiculously far from main campus and class rooms. The rooms that had great proximity to classes, had below average living situations.

Greek Life: Best decision I ever made.

Athletics: Not a lot of school spirit at sporting events, but great facilities.

Off-Campus Housing: Tons of options, you can find something that suits you.

Off-Campus Dining: Root Cellar, Grins, Taproom, Café on the Square, Alvin Ords, so many amazing restaurants in San Marcos.

Scholarships: The reoccurring scholarship for having graduated in the top 10% of my high school class for each semester is nice.

Party Scene: If that's your thing, lots of options every night of the week.

3 College Sophomore

Campus Food: Not too bad. Definitely gets old though.

Campus Housing: It really depends which dorms you live in. Some are absolutely wonderful, while there are 2 of them that don't have AC. I lived in a suite style dorm, and loved it.

4 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: So many food places around campus! Most are open 24 hours a day

3 College Freshman

Administration: The school is moderately strict, could be better

1 College Freshman

Scholarships: I did not get a single pell grant. Or any money at all from this school. DO NOT PROCRASTINATE you will no t get any money!!!!!!!!!!!!

3 College Freshman

Party Scene: I don't party very much but from what I have heard, this is the school to go to if you want to party

3 College Freshman

Campus Food: The fast food is the best, which is sad because in reality it's the worst option. Dining Halls are horrible, all I eat there is cereal.

4 College Freshman

Campus Housing: The dorm I live in is awesome! I hate community bathrooms but you learn to deal with them. The cost is very pricey but the location is great. The school is a huge school! SO much social interaction. The only downside of Texas State is the cost. I wish it was more affordable.

3 College Freshman

Off-Campus Housing: The few apartments I have been to are extremely convenient.

4 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: There are a great variety of places to eat at off campus and very convenient t o get to.

4 College Freshman

Administration: Our campus administration has always been in a positive light to me.

1 College Freshman

Scholarships: I rarely received any scholarships.

4 College Freshman

Party Scene: Great way to get to know new people. You learn faces and names by socializing with people from campus outside of campus, because on campus people are usually busy.

3 College Freshman

Campus Food: Our campus food is not bad, and it's not the best.

1 College Freshman

Campus Housing: I hate my dorm, but I am grateful I have a place to stay. It has to be one of the oldest buildings on campus. It makes me feel extremely uncomfortable at times. There are sometimes bugs. It is a very convenient place on campus, as far as my classes are concerned.

4 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Housing: Keeping in mind that there are options, makes it easier to select residence. Most have a variety in number of roommates. Keep looking for your budget range!

Texas State is such a friendly, open, accepting university. It's not a super huge college, so the people aren't stuck-up or cocky like you might find at bigger universities. It's very relaxed on campus, and there's a very chill atmosphere surrounding the city of San Marcos, as well. You can feel at home at Texas State, and you'll be surprised to find how easy it is to make friends.

Texas State is superb in making sure its students are offered the opportunities they need to gain skills that will make them the most competitive in their field. Being a smaller university makes it even easier for academic advisers and professors to take the extra time to talk to students one-on-one about their future career paths. The professors and advisers are always eager to help.
