Campus Housing: Underclassman Dorms Are Nice – The underclassman dorms on campus are really nice and recently renovated. Although the rooms are about the size of other college dorms, aka small, the dorm itself is beautiful and clean and a great environment to live in.

Campus Food: There's a Wide Variety – There's defiantly a wide variety of foods: home cooked meals, pizza, soups, salads, sandwiches, hamburgers, cereals, everything you could imagine. Every meal there are different food options, and they often have foods of different cultures (Greek food, Chinese, Spanish, etc.). The people who work there are always personable and asks everyone how they're doing, and most of them are really friendly and funny, and some of them literally have a smile on their face all the time.

Party Scene: It's Ok – we all know that college students can't live without parties. there are some fraternities and sororities that are really into parties, and we understand. for most of us, party is not the biggest part.

5 College Sophomore

Athletics: Who doesn't know horned frogs' football? We won the Rose Bowl last year. Students have been supportive and involved in every TCU football game.

Diversity: people get along with each other well. no matter you are local people or from asia, africa or south america, no one judge u by how you look.

3 College Freshman

Scholarships: TCU has a lot of money so the financial aid you receive might surprise you.

Drug Safety: Drinking Is Big – The cops here are very chill as long as you don't have open alcohol containers. You wouldn't expect it but drinking is big here. There's definitely not as much "hardcore" drugs seen here or even weed. If you're greek, there's quite a bit of peer pressure to drink.

Parking: Might as Well Not Bring Car – TCU's parking is awful. AWFUL. Commuters often have to arrive on campus about 30 minutes before class starts to attempt to find a parking spot. Freshman have a lot of their own, but anyone can park in it. It is nearly impossible to find parking, and often times you'll find yourself parking in overflow. Fear not, there are talks of a parking garage coming to TCU soon.

3 College Senior

Campus Food: Same Ol' Same Ol' – There is one main dining hall at TCU: The Bluu. It's okay...for the first three weeks as a freshman. After that you realize there is no variety and it's probably not as healthy as it should be. There are other places on campus such as Frogorrito, 1873 and about three other places to get snacks.

3 College Senior

Health & Safety: There has never been an instance where I have felt unsafe at TCU. The police on campus constantly patrol all areas of the campus by car, foot and Segway. If you use common sense, such as don't walk alone at night if you're a female (use the free escort service), lock your doors, etc, chances are you won't run into trouble.

4 College Sophomore

Technology: Great for Essays, Bad for Flash Games – TCU gives 100 free prints per student per semester, which is excellent for printing out class notes, study sheets, or just essays. However, the wireless internet tends to go in and out.

5 College Sophomore

Majors: TCU encourages double majoring and having at least a minor is all but required. You adviser is almost always available to help you sort out the requirements of any programs you're interested in. Everyone is super helpful to you as you choose how to fill requirements.

3 College Sophomore

Scholarships: Helpful People – The people in the financial aid office are super nice and helpful, but the non-academic based scholarships are all extremely specialized. There is like one that I can apply for (as a white, middle-class, female English major). Plenty of scholarships for the sciences, nursing and ethnic minorities.

Parking: Construction Issues – Construction on the stadium takes over some of the already limited parking spaces. I am getting along fine without a car; would mostly only use it to get home on holidays. Free public transportation for students! Many people complain about the parking, but I have definitely seen and dealt with worse.

5 College Junior

Majors: The Department of Education is A++++. Advisors, faculty, staff, fellow students make it a family. Having TCU, Bachelor of Science in Education on my resume will show my future employer that I was given a top tier foundation in my classes and internship opportunities. TCU Department of Education is the future of education in this country!

3 College Junior

Administration: Fair Minded – Rules are place for the safety of all the students. If a consequence from administration or campus police is given, it is almost always because the student didn't know their own boundaries with drinking or just plain stupidity. Campus police are too strict with parking.

Local Area: Encompasses the Perfect College Experience – I love TCU and Ft. Worth. The school administration and faculty are inspirational, compassionate and mentors along my path to becoming a high school math teacher, football coach and church teen group leader. The people of Ft. Worth are warm and immediately made me feel as if I have lived here my whole life. TCU has greek life, club sports, a long list of student organizations, easy accessibility to faculty and staff, GREAT NCAA athletic teams including 2011 Rose Bowl Champs and 2010 Regional Baseball champs who went to the College World Series! Ft. Worth has AAA baseball, the Stockyards, rodeo, Cowtown Run, beautiful downtown, train to Dallas to attend Dallas Cowboys games or visit Dallas for the day, the American League Champs Texas Rangers.... There are no words to fully express the impact TCU and Ft. Worth have had on my life.

Drug Safety: Drinking Is Prevalent – There isn't really a huge issue that I have seen with underage drinking or drugs in regards to people getting out of control, but it could be attributed to the fact that I was not in the Greek life. Overall, people on campus know how to compose themselves properly.

Off-Campus Dining: Berry Street and University Restaurants – I always felt as though I could eat something new every day when I went out for lunch. There were TONS of options and all the food was excellent. There was even nice sit down restaurants within a 5 minute drive of the campus. Very satisfied

Academics: Professors Make Class Fun and Engaging – Every class that I attended this past year at TCU has been extremely rewarding and thought provoking in it's on ways. The professors really know how to pull the class in and get to the meat of the content without dwelling on it for too long.

5 College Senior

Transportation: Free bus passes all over Fort Worth. Free train pass to Dallas. Free parking lot bus routes and also, if you're injured you can get picked up on campus. Also, froggy 5-0 picks up girls late at night throughout campus so they dont have to walk alone in the dark in the middle of the city.

5 College Senior

Campus Quality: General Campus Aesthetics – TCU is exquisite and has always looked immaculate. It is easy to get around and is always looking beautifully with fresh flowers and manicured lawns.

4 College Senior

Academics: Entrepreneurial Management – I enjoy the professors unique way of teaching the courses, with a focus on building things together as a classroom. Facilities are always very spacious, clean and easy to use. Job opportunites could be greater, but are still easy to find for graduating seniors. Workload is reasonable, a lot of reading and projects, but it is required within the field so it is appropriate.

Diversity: TCU is home to plenty of different kinds of people but the majority of the student body is pretty normal (for lack of a better term). Greek life is a big part of student life and that's quite obvious just by walking around campus. The typical male TCU student is a clean-cut white individual who dresses well and whose family has money. The typical female TCU student is an attractive blonde/brunnete with a similar persona as their male counterparts. I'm not saying that this is a negative characteristic about TCU but the lack of diversity is definitely noticable.

Local Area: I personally love how Fort Worth has the feel of a college town without being just a college town. I'll explain this sentiment in two parts:
First, Fort Worth residents HATE when Fort Worth is called "the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex" because Fort Worth is a city that is completely independent of Dallas. Because of this, Fort Worthians TCU is something that they can take pride in and rally around. When we won the Rose Bowl, the Trinity River was dyed purple and messages of congratulations could be seen all around town.

Secondly, Even though TCU is located in Fort Worth, Fort Worth isn't just a college town. Unlike Lubbock or College Station, there is alot to do off campus. Fort Worth came before TCU so it was given time to develop into a enjoyable place to live/study.

Overall ExperienceWhat's this?

View student contributors

Most students at TCU are pleased with their education and the opportunities presented to them. While diversity continues to be an issue on campus, strong academics, good facilities, and countless organizations play a larger role in student life. To most students, TCU offers a strong academic foundation in a lively setting. Fort Worth and Dallas provide endless entertainment, while campus police and Froggie Five-O do their best to protect and serve the students on TCU’s campus. Students have a wide variety of living options, providing them with a great environment while earning their educations.

Don't be fooled by the name: TCU isn’t a stuffy church school. It’s a place where students are encouraged to try new things and branch out. A few numerous organizations—Greek ones in particular—tend to discriminate between social groups, but the overall student body is quite friendly. Academically, students are eager to learn, and a small student-faculty ratio allows students to interact closely with each of their professors. In the long run, many TCU students truly appreciate the campus for what it is and tend to view it as an experience like no other. It sure is good to be a Horned Frog!
