3 College Freshman

Administration: They catch attitudes when the student body provides feedback.

2 College Freshman

Administration: They try to be strict with some things but it just doesn't work. You will literally see people smoking next to a no smoking sign, including teachers. The when it comes to simple things like just having visitors in the lounge of a dorm it's totally restricted. Also cigarette smoke and weed can be smelled inside the dorms at times and no one does anything about it even though it's supposed to be prohibited.

Administration: I know that in Rudoloh hall there are no visitation hours.

1 College Sophomore

Administration: It takes an arm and leg to get all your admission things in line. Staff is very rude and not understandable. Wish they understood, that it's students like us that they even have a job. Once you get pass the whole process, I've heard the professors are not bad at all. So keep bugging them until you don't need them anymore. They tend to lose lots of documents!!!!

There is one thing at TSU every student will see at TSU, and that is the TSUPD and the NPD. They patrol the area all day and night long looking around for someone breaking the rules, and if you are innocent, it can be somewhat annoying. The students do not necessarily feel safer; they feel more like they are being watched, just in case. The TSUPD doesn't seem to be overly strict, though, just cautious and focused on preventing certain crimes from occurring. The dispositions of TSUPD and NPD officers range from friendly to "pull you over in a second if you look at me funny." The TSUPD is really strict on drugs and parking violations. They will search your room or car if they are suspicious of any unlawful activity, and they will tow your car if you park illegally. If you are busted for underage drinking or drugs, you may be expelled, so the best advice is to be very careful. TSUPD is known for merely patrolling the area and isn't as overbearing as the NPD, which is somewhat of a relief to students. However, the NPD is everywhere! There is a branch of the NPD and traffic court not two miles down the road, so you will always see a metro officer in the area. Nashville police are notorious for pulling people over because of their profile, the car they drive, the music they are listening to, or how many people they have in the car. This can be a burden and is a complaint with not just students but residents all over the area. Both departments are pretty understanding that this is a university, however, and if you use your common sense, you will not have a problem with the police.
