3 College Sophomore

Administration: The strictness at my school isn't all that bad . They are really strict about visitation in the dorms and the parking polices though

3 College Freshman

Administration: In the dorm hall they were very strict with visitation. If you did not have a permit to park then you would receive a ticket and having drugs and alcohol was not tolerated.

3 College Sophomore

Administration: The policies at our school are very average. The only thing that we don't get that every other college has is visitation. If you live in any of the dorms you have to vote on visitation and sometimes everyone doesn't vote so therefore we don't get it most of the time.

3 College Junior

Administration: The school is strict on things that should not really matter such as visitation and parking but don't really focus on things that do such as smoking and drinking on campus.

3 College Freshman

Administration: I think that problem should be about to come and out of the dorm at anytime because the student are the ones who are paying to stay there plus paying the administrative .

There is one thing at TSU every student will see at TSU, and that is the TSUPD and the NPD. They patrol the area all day and night long looking around for someone breaking the rules, and if you are innocent, it can be somewhat annoying. The students do not necessarily feel safer; they feel more like they are being watched, just in case. The TSUPD doesn't seem to be overly strict, though, just cautious and focused on preventing certain crimes from occurring. The dispositions of TSUPD and NPD officers range from friendly to "pull you over in a second if you look at me funny." The TSUPD is really strict on drugs and parking violations. They will search your room or car if they are suspicious of any unlawful activity, and they will tow your car if you park illegally. If you are busted for underage drinking or drugs, you may be expelled, so the best advice is to be very careful. TSUPD is known for merely patrolling the area and isn't as overbearing as the NPD, which is somewhat of a relief to students. However, the NPD is everywhere! There is a branch of the NPD and traffic court not two miles down the road, so you will always see a metro officer in the area. Nashville police are notorious for pulling people over because of their profile, the car they drive, the music they are listening to, or how many people they have in the car. This can be a burden and is a complaint with not just students but residents all over the area. Both departments are pretty understanding that this is a university, however, and if you use your common sense, you will not have a problem with the police.
