Local Area: Center City is perfect for all your needs, it even has a Chinatown! Its about 20 minutes away and the train runs 24/7. Locals however, are mostly poor and may harass students for money.

Local Area: I do love Philly and I don't live far so I visit Philly a lot, but it does have it's negatives like parking and safety (too many areas are becoming very dangerous!) Philly sports are great, (even though the teams have their ups and downs).

The most important thing to know is that Temple is located in North Philly, an urban community. Students stay away from adjacent streets that don’t have a red Temple "T" on them. Stepping off campus allows students to be subjected to harassment by panderers. Despite not being the best neighborhood in town, North Philly has a large student population from the University of Pennsylvania and Drexel University. The students often mingle at parties and athletic events, as well.

Center City is the heart of Philadelphia and is packed full of historic places, such as museums and shopping areas, making it a great place to hang around or take your family. There is a mural of former Temple professor Sonia Sanchez that has become a part of Philly’s culture. Another cool place to check out is South Street, which is what Philly has to offer as far as a social scene. Great bars and good food lie on this strip, which is very accessible. South Street is similar to the Village in New York, so things are very expensive, but definitely worth at least one visit.
