Drug Safety: Drugs do not have a huge presence on campus

Health & Safety: Although people have their doubts about Temple's safety, I have never found myself in a life threatening situation. Campus police and security are always present

Off-Campus Housing: i personally dont live on campus but my friends say that the campus has very good housing.

4 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Dining: off campus restaurants have discounts for students, i usually get chinese food they are very cheap and fresh

5 College Sophomore

Scholarships: did everything online, went smooth. there is a financial aid office ready to answer any questions.

5 College Sophomore

Transportation: i drive to campus since i live off campus. but the school has shuttle to other campuses. the campus is located off broad street. There is an access to bus line and subway.

Campus Food: there is a wide variety of food courts that offer different dishes depending on your taste. It is either kosher, halaal, veg, organic and affordable. student ID cards can be used as a debit card on campus. one can deposit money and use it for purchases in the library or food courts.

Overall Experience: I am a transfer student. It was very easy for me to transfer my credits from my previous school overseas to Temple. the international student office helped me out with the process, they were nice and there for me all the time. i would choose this school all over again because it is safe, affordable, diverse, campus life, programs offered.

Party Scene: there is a bar on campus that offers $1 beers on wednesday. but if you are into more fun there are bars and clubs, some of them are open as late as 3 or 6 am. you can take a cab or drive to the city which is 10-15 minutes away from campus.

Academics: I am majoring in Political Science. I enjoyed taking classes, they are convenient and in small groups. My American Politics class was very awesome, we had 2 lectures and a lab each week. if we had any questions for the professor we would ask him during the lecture and lab or if someone misses the lectures, there was a class capture option on the student portal where students can listen to the audio of the lecture that is recorded during the lecture

Academics: one thing i really like about this school is the extra help students get from professors. if a student doesnt understand the class you can easily visit professor and he/she will explain you or at least refer you to academic sources. I took statistics last semester, in the beginning of the semester, I though i was going to fail this class because I was really bad at math. But with my professor's help I started understanding the class materials, if i didn't understand certain things i would visit him in his office and he would explain me everything all over again. or even when i email my professor he would respond asap. Registration is done online, very easy. if there is any difficulty one can simply call the school and get help.

Local Area: there is always something going on on campus. the nightlife is better than excellent. campus is located 15 minutes from the center city where you can find a lot of good bars and clubs. there is a bar on campus as well with $1 beers. i highly recommend it.

Athletics: sport is a big part of the school, the fan support from not only students but families and locals is very high. i like mens basketball team, they play really good and i dont miss a game.

Health & Safety: i live off campus but on a typical day you can see police on every corner of the street and if one needs an escort, all you need to do is make a phone call and the police will come to escort you home. there are security cameras all over the place and I feel completely safe on campus

Majors: i havent had an internship yet but i contacted the Temple internship/job opportunities office and filled out the interest forms. the following day they emailed me a list of internships that i mite be interested in. so i did some research and found 6 internships that I am thinking of applying to.

Majors: I enjoy the programs offered at school. There are many internship opportunities for undergrad and grad students. I speak three different languages and I found 6 different internships that involve communication with immigrants that I am trying to apply for. school has a very diverse campus, libraries and technologies used during the classes are up to date. i took international politics last semester and i found out my professor has worked at Harvard, goes abroad annually and involved in foreign politics which gave us perfect understanding of foreign politics.

Off-Campus Dining: Since the school is located in the city, the availability of variety is vast.

Weather: Being an open campus with few hills and slopes, the weather has little affect on transportation or availability of resources.

4 College Freshman

Weather: I'm from Wisconsin so the lack of snow is a little depressing, but it's good for walking around campus

3 College Freshman

Party Scene: Lot's of house parties, I know people who party every weekend, and there are many different options. Not sure about bars/clubs since I'm still underage, but it's downtown Philly so I'm sure there are plenty of choices. As usual the public transportation is great so that will never be a problem

Drug Safety: I haven't heard of too many people dying of drug overdoses, but it's a pretty wild off campus life so I'm sure it happens

3 College Freshman

Off-Campus Housing: It's pretty expensive to live off campus, but it's worth it because the dorms are obscenely expensive. Even as a freshman I wish I had skipped the dorms and gone straight to an apartment

3 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: You have to take the subway to get anywhere good, but in center city there are thousands of great restaurants for all cost levels

3 College Freshman

Campus Quality: I'm pretty antisocial so I'm not sure, but others seem to like it

4 College Freshman

Campus Quality: Facilities are very good, high level of technology, three large workout facilities, and many high tech classrooms

Overall ExperienceWhat's this?

View student contributors

Overall, Temple has its ups and downs, but students seem to love it all the same. On the downside, there can be some head-butts with tyrannical teachers, unfriendly cafeteria workers, and the always-frustrating financial aid office. Housing can cause an enormous hassle, and those commuting have to battle with parking or public transportation. Some people don’t feel as though they are prepared for the real world once they leave campus, but others say it’s been an incredible learning experience. Those students that love their experience at Temple all have their own reasons. Some love the atmosphere and found it to be a lot of fun. Others found it to be a great place to grow up and discover themselves. Lots of students take away more from living in a big city than they do from the University. But one thing it seems most students agree on is that the people at Temple University are what really make it a worthwhile experience.

In general, students coming to Temple have big expectations, from both the school and the city. Those that graduate either feel that Temple met their expectations, or if it didn’t, then it was their own fault for not pursuing more opportunities while they were there. Most students feel that Temple provides them with the opportunities that make their college experiences excellent—as long as they are willing to make use of them.
