Scholarships: They helped with some things, like a way to increase your loan. They don't help with anything that has to do with scholarships.

3 College Freshman

Weather: In the summer it's pretty hot but the winters aren't bad. It's mid-November and its 50 degrees.

4 College Freshman

Weather: The weather is so great. I barely face any awful difficulties for coming to campus or classes due to the weather. However, it is pretty colder than other areas at night.

4 College Freshman

Local Area: It is a busy neighborhood, there is always something fun going on such as fairs, contests, concerts, and so on. Many food or clothing stores are located around the campus, the local residents are pretty nice toward students.

5 College Senior

Majors: I like being part of the Sport and Recreational program at Temple. The make sure that when we leave school that we are professionally ready. The program demands so much from the students. We are involved in so many activities off campus and connected to some many professional organizations in the area.

5 College Senior

Majors: I completed my Jr. Internship at Temple recreation. It was a great experience. The staff made sure that I learned about recreation and not just there to complete my hours. Even though there was no pay I was dedicated to coming there on a daily bases. I did some marketing, and also managing some recreational events.

3 College Senior

Weather: Temple is close to New Jersey so we get coastal weather. The streets are narrow and it is hard to plow the snow.

5 College Senior

Party Scene: Temple is in one of the largest cities in the country. There is always some place to go.

Overall ExperienceWhat's this?

View student contributors

Overall, Temple has its ups and downs, but students seem to love it all the same. On the downside, there can be some head-butts with tyrannical teachers, unfriendly cafeteria workers, and the always-frustrating financial aid office. Housing can cause an enormous hassle, and those commuting have to battle with parking or public transportation. Some people don’t feel as though they are prepared for the real world once they leave campus, but others say it’s been an incredible learning experience. Those students that love their experience at Temple all have their own reasons. Some love the atmosphere and found it to be a lot of fun. Others found it to be a great place to grow up and discover themselves. Lots of students take away more from living in a big city than they do from the University. But one thing it seems most students agree on is that the people at Temple University are what really make it a worthwhile experience.

In general, students coming to Temple have big expectations, from both the school and the city. Those that graduate either feel that Temple met their expectations, or if it didn’t, then it was their own fault for not pursuing more opportunities while they were there. Most students feel that Temple provides them with the opportunities that make their college experiences excellent—as long as they are willing to make use of them.
