Local Area: It is very Urban so their is a lot to do on and around campus. Although it is a dangerous when you go right off campus campus.

3 College Senior

Drug Safety: It is pretty well enforced on campus, however it is an urban area so it is easy to go off campus and get something.

4 College Senior

Majors: The Programs are easy to research and apply for. they make it very easy to make your choice clear.

4 College Senior

Overall Experience: Overall, the only real complaint that I have is the surrounding area's safety. The neighborhood is somewhat dangerous, but it's nothing that can't be dealt with by simply paying attention and keeping your common sense about you. The facilities, and faculty, and student organizations are all very good.

Greek Life: Comparatively to other schools, the Greek life isn't a large aspect at Temple.

Athletics: The two gyms on campus are great for students.

2 College Senior

Campus Food: The food is horrible and overpriced.

4 College Senior

Off-Campus Dining: There are a plethora of food trucks.

2 College Senior

Scholarships: I feel as if there should be more help for out of state students. I believe there are better aid packages for younger students, but seniors get no love!

5 College Senior

Diversity: Temple is one of the most diverse campuses around.

2 College Senior

Parking: There are too many students and faculty, and parking is hard to find and expensive.

3 College Senior

Health & Safety: The campus is in a terrible neighborhood, but has staff (police) to aid in combating the lack of safety.

4 College Senior

Technology: We have one of the best computer labs in the country for a college campus, however we also have a huge amount og students using the computers at all times.

3 College Senior

Transportation: We are in a city so subways and trains regularly run to and from the school.

4 College Senior

Academics: Tyler School of Art provides a great community for learning and networking.

3 College Senior

Academics: The university is so large that everything involving academics varies from class to class (professor to professor).

4 College Freshman

Drug Safety: Most people are pretty friendly.

5 College Freshman

Campus Quality: Also, the tech center is great for getting work done on nice computers with large screens.

Overall ExperienceWhat's this?

View student contributors

Overall, Temple has its ups and downs, but students seem to love it all the same. On the downside, there can be some head-butts with tyrannical teachers, unfriendly cafeteria workers, and the always-frustrating financial aid office. Housing can cause an enormous hassle, and those commuting have to battle with parking or public transportation. Some people don’t feel as though they are prepared for the real world once they leave campus, but others say it’s been an incredible learning experience. Those students that love their experience at Temple all have their own reasons. Some love the atmosphere and found it to be a lot of fun. Others found it to be a great place to grow up and discover themselves. Lots of students take away more from living in a big city than they do from the University. But one thing it seems most students agree on is that the people at Temple University are what really make it a worthwhile experience.

In general, students coming to Temple have big expectations, from both the school and the city. Those that graduate either feel that Temple met their expectations, or if it didn’t, then it was their own fault for not pursuing more opportunities while they were there. Most students feel that Temple provides them with the opportunities that make their college experiences excellent—as long as they are willing to make use of them.
