Greek Life: Don't really have Greek life at school

Athletics: The school has big involvement with the sports, & students are always supporting their athletes

Overall Experience: Temple University is a friendly environment with many opportunities for students to experience. I would choose my school again because the professors are highly educated & want students to suceed.

Party Scene: There are more house parties than bar/clubs. Transportation at night is average.

3 College Sophomore

Party Scene: Usually the fraternity parties are the best on campus.

4 College Sophomore

Diversity: Temple is a very diverse university and accepting. Students get along with each other regardless of their skin color or culture.

4 College Sophomore

Academics: The professors are general nice and easy to get help from while there are few that is unreasonable and not fair on grading. The workload here are average.

Drug Safety: For Temple, drug and alcohol visibility, usage and policy are very valued and promoted. Although there is peer pressure on drinking during events or parties, but that is normal for the social norm.

Greek Life: Having friends that are in Greeklife, members don't look at you differently if you don't involve yourself. Many sorority members actually hang out frequently with non-Greeks. Temple has10-15 Greek houses available, which suits our campus appropriately. Overall, I feel there is a good balance weighing on the social atmosphere.

Athletics: Temple is a D1 school, so we're not only competitive but passionate about our school spirit as well. Student involvement seems to sweep over campus, partially because of the rising success of our football and basketball team.

Greek Life: Greek and non-Greek students are indifferent and accepting of each other. I haven't noticed any great influences on the social atmosphere on campus by them and I believe there is housing available to them near campus in fairly decent sized homes.

Athletics: The athletics department is a big part of our school and may or may not be based on the potential income of it. For instance, recently I heard from another student that the track team had a series of losses and eventually had their program cut. However other sports that I assume sell a decent amount of tickets are possibly favored for the University. School spirit for our teams definitely does exist and our teams do fairly well.

Overall Experience: Granted that it's not perfect, I do respect the professors for how passionate some of them can be about the subjects that they teach and how much they care that their students are doing well. Some professors can be harder to understand than others due to teaching methods but overall I haven't felt like a course has been unfair and they have done well in creating office hours so that students may receive extra help. The general education courses can either fun or boring and the major courses are challenging but sometimes fun depending on the course as well. If given the choice, I would choose to go to Temple again.

Overall ExperienceWhat's this?

View student contributors

Overall, Temple has its ups and downs, but students seem to love it all the same. On the downside, there can be some head-butts with tyrannical teachers, unfriendly cafeteria workers, and the always-frustrating financial aid office. Housing can cause an enormous hassle, and those commuting have to battle with parking or public transportation. Some people don’t feel as though they are prepared for the real world once they leave campus, but others say it’s been an incredible learning experience. Those students that love their experience at Temple all have their own reasons. Some love the atmosphere and found it to be a lot of fun. Others found it to be a great place to grow up and discover themselves. Lots of students take away more from living in a big city than they do from the University. But one thing it seems most students agree on is that the people at Temple University are what really make it a worthwhile experience.

In general, students coming to Temple have big expectations, from both the school and the city. Those that graduate either feel that Temple met their expectations, or if it didn’t, then it was their own fault for not pursuing more opportunities while they were there. Most students feel that Temple provides them with the opportunities that make their college experiences excellent—as long as they are willing to make use of them.
