5 College Freshman

Campus Housing: 1300 and Morgan are the best on campus though. I live in 1300.

2 College Freshman

Party Scene: There are no bars or clubs right off campus.

2 College Freshman

Scholarships: Getting financial aid was very stressful, it still is, but totally worth it once obtained.

5 College Freshman

Diversity: My group of friends still comment on how diverse everyone is: Asian, African American, Hispanic, Indian, etc.

4 College Freshman

Academics: I am only a freshman so so far my work load is pretty light as long as I do not procrastinate.

3 College Freshman

Academics: In honors we get first choice in picking our classes after the seniors and it is still annoying when you can not get into a class or your schedule does not work because there is only one class being offered for that subject. Though the program is easy to use once you get the hang of it.

3 College Freshman

Off-Campus Housing: From what I heard off-campus living is great price wise but a little dangerous.

3 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: It's a small selection: Wendy's, Pizza, Chinese, Subway, and 7-eleven but on rotate it hasn't gotten boring yet.

4 College Freshman

Athletics: You have to find people who are into athletic things. Those people are really into it.

5 College Freshman

Health & Safety: Cops everywhere as long as you are still on campus.

3 College Freshman

Guys & Girls: Some really cute, some not.

3 College Senior

Greek Life: I'm not affiliated with it, but some of it's good, some of it is stereotypical.

4 College Senior

Administration: It's there but it's never really made me feel restricted from participating in any fun

5 College Senior

Local Area: So much to do and so many places to go!

3 College Senior

Drug Safety: Alcohol is the most prominent - followed by weed, but I would say it's an average college amount.

4 College Senior

Transportation: It's great having a free shuttle but only the everyday riders know how to use it the most conveniently. The subway makes it convenient to go north or sotuh and runs fairly late. Taxis are only if you need it for the really late hours.

3 College Senior

Parking: I avoid parking lots at all costs, but it's a pain to find street parking that's not a 2 hr limit

4 College Senior

Health & Safety: I don't ever really feel unsafe on campus no matter what time it is

5 College Senior

Overall Experience: I always knew Temple was for me and I'd do it all over again! It's a city school filled with amazing diversity, school spirit, and amazing opportunities for new possibilities.

5 College Senior

Campus Housing: It's how you meet other people!

3 College Senior

Off-Campus Dining: In need of healthier options vs the Chinese, Fried Chicken and McDonald's. A lot of places are in walking distance though.

3 College Senior

Off-Campus Housing: Depends on where you want to live - best bet to live closer to campus but the negative side of that is potentially having to pay more. Sometime you can get lucky and find a nice apartment for a good deal, others times cheap places that are crummy or too far away for your liking.

3 College Freshman

Greek Life: The best parties are always at the frat houses. Don't wear nice things.

Overall ExperienceWhat's this?

View student contributors

Overall, Temple has its ups and downs, but students seem to love it all the same. On the downside, there can be some head-butts with tyrannical teachers, unfriendly cafeteria workers, and the always-frustrating financial aid office. Housing can cause an enormous hassle, and those commuting have to battle with parking or public transportation. Some people don’t feel as though they are prepared for the real world once they leave campus, but others say it’s been an incredible learning experience. Those students that love their experience at Temple all have their own reasons. Some love the atmosphere and found it to be a lot of fun. Others found it to be a great place to grow up and discover themselves. Lots of students take away more from living in a big city than they do from the University. But one thing it seems most students agree on is that the people at Temple University are what really make it a worthwhile experience.

In general, students coming to Temple have big expectations, from both the school and the city. Those that graduate either feel that Temple met their expectations, or if it didn’t, then it was their own fault for not pursuing more opportunities while they were there. Most students feel that Temple provides them with the opportunities that make their college experiences excellent—as long as they are willing to make use of them.
