Athletics: Football at Temple is pretty big and its advertised a lot. So are their basketball teams. They have a really good gym and athletic facility.

Scholarships: It was easy to apply but I had some difficulty in the process due to one of the workers in the financial aid offices messing it up but in the end, I got all the aid I needed.

Weather: It cold in the winter and hot in the summer as you would expect for the Philadelphia climate. It can be really nice in the spring. I personally don't mind the cold to much.

Off-Campus Dining: Food trucks makes thing very easy. There are over 30 different trucks stationed outside of buildings and classes. There are also convenient stores around and restaurants that I haven't tried yet but will.

Drug Safety: It isn't seen in public unless you know people who actually do it. If you don't then you will probably never see anyone do drugs.

Weather: It is really windy in on campus and the rain sucks but we usually don't get totally snowed in!

Guys & Girls: Everybody's okay, but there's either hipsters or hardcore trend followers on campus. In between is the suburban kids, who wear every mall brand out there. It's better to meet people at parties than on campus.

Overall ExperienceWhat's this?

View student contributors

Overall, Temple has its ups and downs, but students seem to love it all the same. On the downside, there can be some head-butts with tyrannical teachers, unfriendly cafeteria workers, and the always-frustrating financial aid office. Housing can cause an enormous hassle, and those commuting have to battle with parking or public transportation. Some people don’t feel as though they are prepared for the real world once they leave campus, but others say it’s been an incredible learning experience. Those students that love their experience at Temple all have their own reasons. Some love the atmosphere and found it to be a lot of fun. Others found it to be a great place to grow up and discover themselves. Lots of students take away more from living in a big city than they do from the University. But one thing it seems most students agree on is that the people at Temple University are what really make it a worthwhile experience.

In general, students coming to Temple have big expectations, from both the school and the city. Those that graduate either feel that Temple met their expectations, or if it didn’t, then it was their own fault for not pursuing more opportunities while they were there. Most students feel that Temple provides them with the opportunities that make their college experiences excellent—as long as they are willing to make use of them.
