Health & Safety: There are always campus police on bikes around.

Academics: There are cool classes to pick.

3 College Freshman

Technology: The Tech Center is a great place to find a computer to use. However, the wifi in the residence halls sometimes doesnt function at its best.

Local Area: There are a lot of fun things happening.

Off-Campus Dining: Nearest campus are some normal restaurants that serve fast food. Then a subway ride away you can find all types of nice and diverse restaurants in Center City.

4 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: With a Chinese restaurant next door and a falafel stand across the street (along with a variety of ramen shops, convenience stores and more wherever you turn) good food is not far away.

5 College Freshman

Health & Safety: Tokyo is one of the safest cities in the world, and just by walking around you can fell the difference. No one on campus is hostile or anything, and it's almost as if the school is one big family.

5 College Freshman

Transportation: The two buildings of the Japan campus are within walking distance of one another, and every other inch of the city is accessible by train, taxi, or bus. The schedules are consistent, and all methods are very reliable.

3 College Freshman

Scholarships: At main campus the situation might be better, but here it is difficult to get a hold of any aid. The number of scholarships given are limited, but the process is relatively simple.

Local Area: I am attend school at the Japan Campus of Temple University, which is located right in Tokyo. If you like big cities and lots of people, it is amazing. The locals here are really kind and not at all how most people would portray them. The subway system is the best in the world, and there's plenty of stuff to see.

4 College Freshman

Technology: The computers are up-to-date, and they run smoothly. WE have a couple of Mac labs if you're into that sort of thing. Once you get a hold of the Wi-Fi it is extremely convenient and there are no problems that I have encountered.

4 College Sophomore

Academics: its alot of work but if you worl hard at getting it you will get it

4 College Freshman

Scholarships: Always apply for Fafsa and Pheaa. Aid is somewhat expensive.

4 College Freshman

Campus Housing: Some buildings are better than others but overall good.

3 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: There are many places one can eat.

4 College Freshman

Campus Housing: The dorms all vary. For example you have Peabody which is pretty run down and usually goes to the kids who put their deposit down late. Morgan Hall was just built in 2013 and is absolutely beautiful one of the best in the country.

3 College Freshman

Drug Safety: Students drink all the time. You can always find people who don't like any school.

3 College Freshman

Off-Campus Housing: You have to remember you're living in North Philly! If you can process what that means then you are fine.

5 College Freshman

Local Area: Philly is an amazing city there is so much to do and explore you will never be bored here.

4 College Freshman

Athletics: There is so much at Temple I feel athletics are sometimes overshadowed.

3 College Freshman

Transportation: Temple's campus is actually quiet small so on-campus transportation is almost nonexistent. Everything is extremely close and there are two subway entrances, one on each end of campus.

4 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: Go into the city and eat!!!

Overall ExperienceWhat's this?

View student contributors

Overall, Temple has its ups and downs, but students seem to love it all the same. On the downside, there can be some head-butts with tyrannical teachers, unfriendly cafeteria workers, and the always-frustrating financial aid office. Housing can cause an enormous hassle, and those commuting have to battle with parking or public transportation. Some people don’t feel as though they are prepared for the real world once they leave campus, but others say it’s been an incredible learning experience. Those students that love their experience at Temple all have their own reasons. Some love the atmosphere and found it to be a lot of fun. Others found it to be a great place to grow up and discover themselves. Lots of students take away more from living in a big city than they do from the University. But one thing it seems most students agree on is that the people at Temple University are what really make it a worthwhile experience.

In general, students coming to Temple have big expectations, from both the school and the city. Those that graduate either feel that Temple met their expectations, or if it didn’t, then it was their own fault for not pursuing more opportunities while they were there. Most students feel that Temple provides them with the opportunities that make their college experiences excellent—as long as they are willing to make use of them.
