Campus Housing: I do not, nor have I ever lived in campus housing. Strictly because of the price. I live in an off campus apartment because it is cheaper for me.

Greek Life: I don't belong the the greek organization therefore I'm not sure

Off-Campus Housing: I'm living on campus but there are many nice off-campus housing which are walking distance from school

Administration: I feel comfortable walking around campus and feel safe.

College Freshman

Party Scene: I'm not comfortable with parties setting therefor I didn't attend to any

College Freshman

Scholarships: I am an international student there for I'm not eligible to apply for federal aid. But the scholarship options for international students are very limited. I tried to score high in the language exam and got $500 scholarship. I wish I would have more opportunity to apply for aid since I'm in a difficult financial situation back home

Campus Food: I do think it is a waste of money sometimes when the meals don't carry away when I don't use them.

3 College Freshman

Campus Housing: Living on campus is convenient because I can easily get to classes by walking. I live in a dorm which just built last year so the facilities are brand new. Therefore living condition is good but social atmosphere can be distracting since some students would violate the rule and bring alcohol in the dorm

Off-Campus Housing: There are a bunch of places that a student can live in but steer clear of University Village. I lived their my first year and I hated it. It was loud, dirty, and the building itself was falling apart.

Off-Campus Dining: There are a lot of off-campus dining places that taste really good. Cosi is one of my favorites. The only downside is that most of these places are on Broad St which can be a little dangerous at times.

3 College Sophomore

Administration: It really depends on what day and what people are currently working. Some professors are very focused on honor but many professors don't really care. Parties are not usually broken up because there are always parties on the weekends. I believe that their policy is basically, everything is cool because its your/your parents' money. But if you have an emergency call 911.

3 College Sophomore

Party Scene: Most of the parties are loud with a lot of drinking and smoking, but most of the people are well-mannered and going to a party is apparently very good at releasing stress.

2 College Sophomore

Scholarships: It is very difficult to talk to a financial aid adviser and often times they get confused as to a possible solution. The best tip I can give is to do a lot of research on your own and only go to the office if absolutely necessary.

3 College Sophomore

Campus Food: There are some really good places with a lot of different menu choices but you have to be careful of what you pick. Many of the places that serve food don't accept card or meal plans which makes a college student's food plans a bit complicated.

Campus Housing: The apartment in Temple Towers is extremely spacious however there are many problems with the stove, microwave, and the floor. Maintenance is poor at doing their jobs, only temporarily fixing the problems. The prices have been raised recently and it is difficult to manage since its almost $5,000 a semester. Getting the apartment though, is very easy.

Campus Food: There is a variety of places to eat on campus. I haven't gotten sick of anything yet, its nice to always eat something different and usually pretty good too.

5 College Freshman

Campus Housing: Living on campus is the best, its super close to everything. Love my roommates. Its kind of expensive, but worth it. The housing process was super easy.

Off-Campus Housing: Everything is just fine, you have to be careful!

Off-Campus Dining: Since it's close to the city there's a variety.

Administration: It's like any average school, they come and go.

3 College Freshman

Party Scene: It's not bad. You just have to be careful.

3 College Freshman

Scholarships: Situating finances at my school is the worst.

3 College Freshman

Campus Food: Depending on where you go, the food can be okay.

4 College Freshman

Campus Housing: The diversity of the campus was what caught my eye.

Overall ExperienceWhat's this?

View student contributors

Overall, Temple has its ups and downs, but students seem to love it all the same. On the downside, there can be some head-butts with tyrannical teachers, unfriendly cafeteria workers, and the always-frustrating financial aid office. Housing can cause an enormous hassle, and those commuting have to battle with parking or public transportation. Some people don’t feel as though they are prepared for the real world once they leave campus, but others say it’s been an incredible learning experience. Those students that love their experience at Temple all have their own reasons. Some love the atmosphere and found it to be a lot of fun. Others found it to be a great place to grow up and discover themselves. Lots of students take away more from living in a big city than they do from the University. But one thing it seems most students agree on is that the people at Temple University are what really make it a worthwhile experience.

In general, students coming to Temple have big expectations, from both the school and the city. Those that graduate either feel that Temple met their expectations, or if it didn’t, then it was their own fault for not pursuing more opportunities while they were there. Most students feel that Temple provides them with the opportunities that make their college experiences excellent—as long as they are willing to make use of them.
