Party Scene: Parties at my school can be lots of fun and serve as major stress relievers. For the most part I don't think they interfere with the student's study habits or effect their grades because they don't throw parties during the week or before major exams such as midterms or finals.

Off-Campus Dining: The off campus dining options costs are about average and the quality is pretty good. However there are not many options for late night eating and snacking. There are almost no student discounts available for us college kids but at least there is quite a variety to choose from, all of which are fairly convenient.

Local Area: Living so close to a big city definitely has its advantages, like always having something to do.

Party Scene: I'm sure there are parties on or around campus, as there is on any other campus, but I do not take part in that scene for the most part.

Health & Safety: Since I have been attending my school, I haven't notice any health and safety issues on campus.

Academics: Since I am only in my second semester of my freshman year, I have not been able to take any classes directly related to my major but I am looking forward to it.

Campus Housing: Depends which dorm you end up in. Newer dorms are much nicer but pricier.

Off-Campus Dining: Campus is a subway ride away from center city so there is an abundant variety of restaurants easily accessible.

Administration: Dorms are relatively strict on drinking and having visitors. I believe the visitation policy has become more limited since I graduated.

Administration: They will bust you for drinking and smoking in your dorm, but that's typical for every school. Just be careful with what you do in your room. As for student organizations and protests, they are very lenient.

Overall ExperienceWhat's this?

View student contributors

Overall, Temple has its ups and downs, but students seem to love it all the same. On the downside, there can be some head-butts with tyrannical teachers, unfriendly cafeteria workers, and the always-frustrating financial aid office. Housing can cause an enormous hassle, and those commuting have to battle with parking or public transportation. Some people don’t feel as though they are prepared for the real world once they leave campus, but others say it’s been an incredible learning experience. Those students that love their experience at Temple all have their own reasons. Some love the atmosphere and found it to be a lot of fun. Others found it to be a great place to grow up and discover themselves. Lots of students take away more from living in a big city than they do from the University. But one thing it seems most students agree on is that the people at Temple University are what really make it a worthwhile experience.

In general, students coming to Temple have big expectations, from both the school and the city. Those that graduate either feel that Temple met their expectations, or if it didn’t, then it was their own fault for not pursuing more opportunities while they were there. Most students feel that Temple provides them with the opportunities that make their college experiences excellent—as long as they are willing to make use of them.
