Health & Safety: Safety and security on campus is excellent. Campus crime does not occur unless off campus, and I feel safe to walk across campus during the day. After certain hours, I am extra cautious and do not walk alone unless with someone else.

3 College Junior

Campus Housing: I never lived in the dorms and live off campus. But, living on campus has a lot of security, opportunity for socialization, cost is very expensive but convenient for incoming freshman and housing process is fair and smooth if you complete the process ahead of time.

Greek Life: Greek life at Temple University is a big deal. Greek life affects the social atmosphere of campus immensely because of all the events that take place, the fundraising, and their willingness to help the community and their sisters/brothers. Non-Greek Students often do not like getting involved with greek life and others love supporting them because of the friends they have.

Athletics: The athletics at Temple University are very competitive but very welcoming. They are dedicated to their passion in sports. Student involvement and team performance show improvement each year which shows their dedication and true sportsmanship on and off the field.

Overall Experience: My overall experience at Temple University so far has been unforgettable and very rewarding. What makes Temple University so unique is the dynamics of the school, diversity, and the broad opportunities Temple has to offer. I would choose my school again if I did it all over because it has excellent programs and allows you to grow and flourish not only in the classroom but outside the classroom. Whether it's on campus, off campus, throughout Philadelphia, or different schools. Temple University is great for all students.

Overall Experience: Temple's courses and professors are a hit or miss. You either get a good professor that does not put you to sleep or a professor that you cannot even understand.

Overall Experience: Temple is great in helping its students find opportunities in their fields on campus and outside of campus.

3 Recent Alumnus

Health & Safety: Inside the campus itself, I feel completely safe. However, the surrounding area of campus is where I am uncomfortable about my safety.

3 Recent Alumnus

Campus Housing: The reason I say it is okay, is because Temple has either really great dorming options, which are the new buildings they just built, or they have crappy options, which are the older buildings which are also more affordable.

3 Recent Alumnus

Greek Life: I really do not know much about it. I just know that they are active on campus.

4 Recent Alumnus

Athletics: Sports are supported at Temple, and people enjoy the spirit of a strong competition.

3 Recent Alumnus

Overall Experience: Temple University's main problem is that they do not care about their student's success as much as how much money they can get from the student. Stating that allows you to then understand that they are not helpful to the student when it cmes to their success.

4 College Senior

Overall Experience: The professors are all people with professional experience in their respective fields, so their experience and knowledge is invaluable in the classroom environments. They are all usually supportive and helpful to students who want to learn.

3 College Senior

Overall Experience: I am going into an incredibly difficult field, so a degree from Temple might not make any difference. There are very few schools where a degree would actually make a difference in my field.

3 College Senior

Health & Safety: I honestly don't know anything about sexual assaults on this specific campus. AS far as general safety goes, I feel relatively safe, because the Temple Police have a wide perimeter. That said, it's not located in the greatest of neighborhoods.

4 College Senior

Campus Housing: I have not lived in campus housing for years, but the dorms I lived in were new, clean, non-communal bathrooms, we had a night store in the basement, a private courtyard. It was great.

4 College Senior

Greek Life: I am a part of a greek organization. While they have a presence on campus, they arent the dominant social forces.

3 College Senior

Athletics: Being Temple, the focus usually has been on Basketball. The interest in football has spiked given that the team just tied for its best record ever and had three players drafted into the NFL, with a few more making practice squads.

4 College Senior

Overall Experience: The atmosphere, from the games to campus life has been phenomenal. There are many ways to get involved, and it is located very close to the heart of the city.

5 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: My courses were mostly gen eds for my first two semesters. The professors knew what they were talking about and were very helpful. The class styles were lectures, or a small classroom setting.

5 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: The value of a degree from my school is very high.

5 College Sophomore

Health & Safety: The safety on campus is great. I never feel scared. There is always security every where at all times

5 College Sophomore

Campus Housing: Living on campus is great because you are closer to all the food options on campus and all of your classes. The dorms are usually clean depending on what dorm you live in. Its also great for meeting new people.

5 College Sophomore

Greek Life: Greek life is small on campus, but is a great thing to be a part of.

Overall ExperienceWhat's this?

View student contributors

Overall, Temple has its ups and downs, but students seem to love it all the same. On the downside, there can be some head-butts with tyrannical teachers, unfriendly cafeteria workers, and the always-frustrating financial aid office. Housing can cause an enormous hassle, and those commuting have to battle with parking or public transportation. Some people don’t feel as though they are prepared for the real world once they leave campus, but others say it’s been an incredible learning experience. Those students that love their experience at Temple all have their own reasons. Some love the atmosphere and found it to be a lot of fun. Others found it to be a great place to grow up and discover themselves. Lots of students take away more from living in a big city than they do from the University. But one thing it seems most students agree on is that the people at Temple University are what really make it a worthwhile experience.

In general, students coming to Temple have big expectations, from both the school and the city. Those that graduate either feel that Temple met their expectations, or if it didn’t, then it was their own fault for not pursuing more opportunities while they were there. Most students feel that Temple provides them with the opportunities that make their college experiences excellent—as long as they are willing to make use of them.
