Majors: The film program is definitely great at Temple, but you need to take advantage of all of the opportunities handed to you, otherwise it isn't necessarily the best. I know plenty of classmates that skid by and barely do anything film related even though it's their major.

Off-Campus Housing: I've only been living off-campus for a couple weeks and thus far it isn't awful. The freedom of having your own place is nice though the walk to class is a little longer, though not terribly so, especially depending on how many blocks away you are.

Campus Housing: Campus Housing is pretty solid, though it depends on what building you end up in. Obviously, some are nicer than others and some are newer than others.

Local Area: Temple is located in North Philadelphia, which isn't great. But the other parts of Philadelphia (South Philly, Center City, Boathouse Row, etc.) are all only a short ride away via public transportation.

Local Area: Love campus but the surrounding area is not the best

Party Scene: too many people at one party

Campus Housing: Clean building but there are broken items in the dorm when we moved in

Athletics: Temple basketball is very popular to the school and to the city of Philadelphia

Administration: Pretty lenient as long as you don't do anything too crazy. Temple life is diverse and they want students to be able to have the freedom to express their views, but you also need to be respectful and follow the correct procedures.

Off-Campus Dining: Temple has a lot of options for food... maybe even too many.

Administration: My dorm is lovely but can be very restrictive

Scholarships: I hardly ever receive enough financial aid to be able to relieve my single mother of tuition and book fees. Books are very expensive and I also work a part-time job just to assist which can be very difficult to manage my studies at the same time.

Off-Campus Dining: Off campus dining is okay. It can be a bit expensive for us college students.

Majors: I have not had an internship yet, but I do plan on attaining one. I think an internship will really prepare me for my professional career.

Overall ExperienceWhat's this?

View student contributors

Overall, Temple has its ups and downs, but students seem to love it all the same. On the downside, there can be some head-butts with tyrannical teachers, unfriendly cafeteria workers, and the always-frustrating financial aid office. Housing can cause an enormous hassle, and those commuting have to battle with parking or public transportation. Some people don’t feel as though they are prepared for the real world once they leave campus, but others say it’s been an incredible learning experience. Those students that love their experience at Temple all have their own reasons. Some love the atmosphere and found it to be a lot of fun. Others found it to be a great place to grow up and discover themselves. Lots of students take away more from living in a big city than they do from the University. But one thing it seems most students agree on is that the people at Temple University are what really make it a worthwhile experience.

In general, students coming to Temple have big expectations, from both the school and the city. Those that graduate either feel that Temple met their expectations, or if it didn’t, then it was their own fault for not pursuing more opportunities while they were there. Most students feel that Temple provides them with the opportunities that make their college experiences excellent—as long as they are willing to make use of them.
