Academics: Being in the education program the counselors and the professors are the best. They often are very involved and try to help you with the material. The advisers are often available to answer questions about internships and job opportunities that are available.

5 College Senior

Athletics: The atmosphere at an athletics event is mesmerizing. All of the students are usually ready to go and very supportive of the teams, though mostly for men's football and basketball.

4 College Senior

Off-Campus Housing: There is usually always someone looking to find a roommate of lease an apartment near or around the college campus, so finding off-campus housing is not hard to find. The places themselves range anywhere from okay to great.

3 College Senior

Scholarships: In my experience, they don't seem to always have an answer or the correct answer when talking to them.

5 College Senior

Party Scene: Just like the restaurants, some of the best bars and night clubs are also just a subway ride away.

4 College Senior

Off-Campus Dining: Most of the best restaurants Philadelphia has to offer are just a subway ride away and the subway is located right on campus.

4 College Senior

Administration: The university isn't too strict on matters but strict enough to make students think before they do things they are not supposed to.

4 College Senior

Health & Safety: There has been very few campus crimes during my stay at the University.

4 College Senior

Local Area: Philadelphia is a great city with many great facilities and revenues to have fun with friends and family.

4 College Senior

Guys & Girls: There are a lot of different types of people here. You can find anyone you're looking for.

3 College Senior

Administration: Temple is pretty laid back when it comes to most things.

4 College Senior

Campus Quality: The new Mcgonigle hall is incredible. However, they only renovated so the basketball team would have a new space to practice, and not just because it was an old building and needed to be redone.

4 College Senior

Campus Quality: Student life and activities is great. There is a lot going on and a lot to be involved in.

3 College Senior

Greek Life: I personally think Greek life is a way to pay for your friends.

2 College Senior

Campus Food: It's nasty food, it makes you feel sick, and there aren't many other options.

3 College Senior

Off-Campus Housing: Sometimes there are safety issues with living off campus. Also make sure you find the right landlord.

3 College Senior

Campus Housing: Not a bad overall situation. Could use more ease with how you pick where you live.

Greek Life: There are multiple fraternities and sororities that is impossible for someone not to find one that they are easily fit in with. Also social atmosphere is great. While there are some fraternities are are not that nice most students that take part in Greek life are nice and easy to get along with. Along with Greek living they are also made to take part in a certain amount of volunteer work each semester.

Health & Safety: Along with having Temple police we also have the Philly police. At night most areas are well lite and we have many emergency poles around the campus along with 24/7 security cameras. there is crime but it does not take part on campus are we are sent emails and texts if the crime is close to campus and told to stay away from the area. Then we are sent another when the area is clear ans safe again.

Majors: I have not had an internship yet but i heard they are great. i have shadowed at a Physical therapy center and enjoyed the experience. I got to learn a lot and see what my day would look like if i worked in that type of setting. There are so many places to internship at that i feel it will be no problem getting one when that time comes.

Majors: My career goal is to becomes a Physical therapist. Temple has a great program for since majors with the convenience of the Temple hospital right down the road. Physical therapy is a growing field so i feel i will not have a problem getting a job when that time comes

Off-Campus Dining: Students do not have a problem finding somewhere to eat. there are so many options, all of different ethnics. the cost is affordable and easy to get to since there are a lot of place to eat in center city.

5 College Sophomore

Campus Housing: The housing options are great you can either live in the traditional setting or a suite style room. the dorms are always clean since they have people to clean them every day. Also once you are a sophomore you have the additional option to live off campus. At Temple you are offered multiple places to live and all with different price ranges so you can find the one that is good for you.

Athletics: Many students take part in a sport wither its varsity or club. For the most part the team performance is good. While we are not the best they are not terrible either. Basketball games are always packed and people are cheering loud. Football games are a little less packed since they are not very good. Also gymnastics for it not being as big of a sport as basketball or football the student turnout is a decent size. The practice areas for the sports are a decent size. Some could be a little bigger. The coaches are great people and always helping there athletes improve. Along with being on a varsity team they have mandatory study hours that they must attend if they want to practice and compete.

Overall Experience: When i am at home i live in the country. i find it to be a great experience to live in the city. During my time at temple so far i learned how to take the subway and regional rail by myself. Also being in Philly taught me to be aware of my surroundings. I feel my school offers many clubs to join and rec sports so there is no need to feel bored. At Temple there is always something to do especially since city hall is right down the road and you can always plan a trip to go there and shop.

Overall ExperienceWhat's this?

View student contributors

Overall, Temple has its ups and downs, but students seem to love it all the same. On the downside, there can be some head-butts with tyrannical teachers, unfriendly cafeteria workers, and the always-frustrating financial aid office. Housing can cause an enormous hassle, and those commuting have to battle with parking or public transportation. Some people don’t feel as though they are prepared for the real world once they leave campus, but others say it’s been an incredible learning experience. Those students that love their experience at Temple all have their own reasons. Some love the atmosphere and found it to be a lot of fun. Others found it to be a great place to grow up and discover themselves. Lots of students take away more from living in a big city than they do from the University. But one thing it seems most students agree on is that the people at Temple University are what really make it a worthwhile experience.

In general, students coming to Temple have big expectations, from both the school and the city. Those that graduate either feel that Temple met their expectations, or if it didn’t, then it was their own fault for not pursuing more opportunities while they were there. Most students feel that Temple provides them with the opportunities that make their college experiences excellent—as long as they are willing to make use of them.
