Majors: It is like a community coming together to have fun during my program at school. I enjoy it because of the interactions I get to have with other fellow Temple owls.

Majors: A typical internship is enjoyable when you are around the right group of people. I have had internships where I work 40 hours a week, 8 hours a day.

Party Scene: The best parties take place at frat houses. The party scene has a positive impact on the student experience because most students do their work so that they can enjoy their selves on the weekends.

Athletics: Our school spirit is pretty cool. A lot of students show support during sporting events.

Administration: Students are not allowed to have alcoholic beverages, even if they are over the age of 21. Students are also not allowed to have guests for more than three nights in a 7 day period. I wish there was not a limit.

Local Area: The town/city my school is in is okay. There is crime around the neighborhood sometimes, but there could be crime everywhere. There are many activities to partake in inside of the city as well as outside, such as shopping, going skating, or going bowling.

Scholarships: The financial aid office is always busy. Never give up on receiving financial aid, no matter how stressful it might be. With hard work and dedication 7 times out of 10 financial aid will come your way.

Health & Safety: Campus security is always around 24/7. There are also emergency buttons you can press that are located all throughout campus.

5 College Freshman

Athletics: There is always a huge crowd for all varsity sporting events. They are a big part of the culture, and tons of fans attend.

Off-Campus Dining: There are a good number of places to go around campus. Some have better food then others, some have better cost then others. There is a great variety though. The downside is that most places don't take meal plan. It would be amazing if all places on campus took meal plan.

5 College Freshman

Administration: There are very strict policies in place about drinking and drugs. The guest policy in all dorms is strictly enforced. Security is very present, and is a great help.

Local Area: The city is a great attraction. There is always so much going on. There is a little bit of a bad area though, and sadly, that is where campus is located.

2 College Freshman

Off-Campus Housing: Safety is definitely a big concern. I would not suggest living off campus, the neighborhood is not the best, so it is not always safe to live to far away. its much better living in the center of campus.

Majors: I am planning to do an internship at a nursing home. When i get my degree, I hope to work in geriatrics as an occupational Therapist, so completing an internship is vital to me, because it really helps me to know what my future career will be like, and what I will be expected to do in the job.

Local Area: The locals scare me. A lot. As stated above, it's bad.

4 College Freshman

Scholarships: I still need a lot more money. I received some but not nearly enough.

4 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Dining: Philly offers a lot of really great off-campus dining options, even if they're not all close to the school. However, there are plenty of food joints around campus for students to go to.

Overall ExperienceWhat's this?

View student contributors

Overall, Temple has its ups and downs, but students seem to love it all the same. On the downside, there can be some head-butts with tyrannical teachers, unfriendly cafeteria workers, and the always-frustrating financial aid office. Housing can cause an enormous hassle, and those commuting have to battle with parking or public transportation. Some people don’t feel as though they are prepared for the real world once they leave campus, but others say it’s been an incredible learning experience. Those students that love their experience at Temple all have their own reasons. Some love the atmosphere and found it to be a lot of fun. Others found it to be a great place to grow up and discover themselves. Lots of students take away more from living in a big city than they do from the University. But one thing it seems most students agree on is that the people at Temple University are what really make it a worthwhile experience.

In general, students coming to Temple have big expectations, from both the school and the city. Those that graduate either feel that Temple met their expectations, or if it didn’t, then it was their own fault for not pursuing more opportunities while they were there. Most students feel that Temple provides them with the opportunities that make their college experiences excellent—as long as they are willing to make use of them.
