Overall Experience: Quality of courses - some courses I have no idea why I have to take them (in my major and gen eds). I've literally walked away and learned nothing

Professors - a lot of professors know a great deal about what they're teaching; however, a lot of professors either don't speak English well enough to be teaching (cough cough Math department), are awful teachers that have no idea how to instill that knowledge on students, or are so stuck-up/arrogant/miserable that it has impacted my learning experience

TAs - TAs are /not/ used efficiently here. Most of them don't speak English and aren't very knowledgable in the course that they're in

Funding - some of the best professors I know are stuck in an area that's underfunded because of the way Temple allocates funds (by students in each college, not by the amount of students taking a class in a college; CLA gets screwed over with Mosaics)

Overall Experience: I really feel that I will be able to get a job after college, but less because of Temple and more because of my individual efforts to find internships. Overall, I don't feel that Temple has prepared me for a job in my career, and I'm relying more on the internships

There are, however, a decent amount of career fairs/resources on campus to help find jobs/internships, which I really appreciated.

Greek Life: Honestly, I don't know much about Greek life. No negative or positive view

Athletics: Our athletics department used to be great - diverse, with a lot of options for students to get involved, and we were actually pretty successful in a lot of sports (except football). After cutting funding for a lot of athletics to fund football, we've lost the diversity. Somehow our football team has improved drastically, but this sudden change over one year seems to have made every person in charge of making decisions about the university forget that a university is about academics - not football.

Overall Experience: Things that are great about Temple: availability of options (study abroad, classes, majors, etc.), up-to-date labs (SERC, Tech Center, etc.), professors that are knowledgable in their area

Things that suck about Temple: TAs are very inefficient, a lot of TAs and even professors (math departments) don't speak English well enough to understand difficult concepts, dining options, the amount of red tape to do anything (student financial services, change of major, etc.)

Also - the board of trustees seems to be making a lot of decisions lately of things that they think will be best for the student body, while the student body overwhelmingly is trying to tell them otherwise, but the board doesn't listen

Overall Experience: I love being at Temple. I think it was a great school for me to pick, but sometimes I do wish I was attending another school. I tried getting involved in extra circulars, but it wasn't easy. However, even without being in too many clubs and organizations, there are always other things on campus that you can do. Free Food Fun Fridays are a great way to go do something on campus and also have a safe and fun night.

Overall Experience: Temple is an incredibly diverse institution with remarkable values. The school is something of an underdog and it tries very hard to change its image and be the best school that it can be. I love Temple for all that it stands for. I love it here because I can be myself and anyone can be anyone that they really want to be.

Overall Experience: Temple Univeristy is a diverse school much like the high school I attended in North Brunswick, NJ. There is always things to do on campus and many people in involved in clubs and groups and connect to people. Temple is about making connections which can help you with your future, which I really like about the school. So far my overall experience at Temple as a freshman is going great!

Overall Experience: Temple University is absolutely amazing! Their recent success, highlighted by an unreal football season, is astounding. They're up over 20 spots in US World & News' polls in under 5 years and they've built an tremendous amount of new buildings in the past decade. There are hundreds of things to do, great places a eat and tens of thousands of peers to meet & share ideas with. For the money, there is no better school than Temple!

Overall Experience: I love my school so far. I have been able to learn a lot of things by being at Temple. I have learned how to be independent and I have learned how I love living in cities. I love being surrounded by people everywhere I go. I also love the business school at Temple. I would definitely choose Temple again if I had to do it all over again. I think choosing Temple was the best choice for me.

Overall Experience: I adore Temple University! The close proximity to Center City Philadelphia, the strong alumni base, and the large number of adjunct professors who still work in their field of study makes for a wonderful learning experience that will truly prepare you for life after school. It's a relatively affordable option, and I couldn't be happier with my choice of school!

Overall Experience: if I had to do it all again I would chose the same school, Temple University. The diverse culture that I have experienced being here for 3 years has change my perspective on life. It has made me a more insightful and empathic person. Additionally, campus life is great there is a club for everyone and there interest! The campus atomosphere is so warm, I remember my freshman year when I would get lost going to class the upperclassmen were friendly and happy to answer any question I had. I really love this school, Temple University was my best choice!

Overall Experience: Living on campus is amazing. Although I live in Philadelphia my mom allowed me to stay on campus which was the best choice I ever made. It is so lively, and there's no parental control which allows me to live a little, meet new people, and enjoy the college experience. Temple's students are high spirited and very outgoing, it is always a joy hanging out on campus, watching college student scream, and have fun while walking the campus.

Overall Experience: Temple so far is great , the diversity is amazing and so far my favorite experience here is the pride Temple has in the football and basketball team. I love attending each game for the hype and positive vibes temple has when it comes to sports. I would choose this school all over again based off of how great the academics and school spirit is

Overall Experience: I Like Temple. I'm still getting used to the change of scenery because I'm from the suburbs and Temple is in the inner city. But it's not bad at all the dining options are decent as well as student body diversity, extracirriculars, and majors

Overall Experience: So far, I love Temple University! At first, Temple was at the bottom my college list. I grew up in the suburbs and I was not so sure that I would feel comfortable or do well in the city. Also, Temple has a bad reputation from the perspective of a suburban person because many may assume that because of its location, Temple is a very dangerous and unsafe school to attend, however, I found out the exact opposite after visiting there and attending there. Temple University is one of the brightest parts of the city with street lights and people always on the street whether they are a local, a student or a cop. Temple has so much security it is more than enough. There are bike cops on just about every block, and blue security poles around campus that allow students to click a red button if they feel uncomfortable or in immediate danger and with the click of a button, a group of cops will come to the rescue (not exaggerating). The academics are top notch and the school that I attend, which is the fox business school, is rated in the top ten in the region. I fell in love with the city because everything is easy to access unlike the suburbs and the opportunities are endless.

Overall Experience: There isn't much about my actual school and the academia that I have to say about. I sometimes wish my classes and courses had more sense and organization to them however, overall I've been enjoying my time here.

Overall Experience: I have had a very different experience as a graduate student than as an undergraduate student. However, it is safe to say that the professors are very knowledgeable and respectable, and the school is a great place to be.

Overall ExperienceWhat's this?

View student contributors

Overall, Temple has its ups and downs, but students seem to love it all the same. On the downside, there can be some head-butts with tyrannical teachers, unfriendly cafeteria workers, and the always-frustrating financial aid office. Housing can cause an enormous hassle, and those commuting have to battle with parking or public transportation. Some people don’t feel as though they are prepared for the real world once they leave campus, but others say it’s been an incredible learning experience. Those students that love their experience at Temple all have their own reasons. Some love the atmosphere and found it to be a lot of fun. Others found it to be a great place to grow up and discover themselves. Lots of students take away more from living in a big city than they do from the University. But one thing it seems most students agree on is that the people at Temple University are what really make it a worthwhile experience.

In general, students coming to Temple have big expectations, from both the school and the city. Those that graduate either feel that Temple met their expectations, or if it didn’t, then it was their own fault for not pursuing more opportunities while they were there. Most students feel that Temple provides them with the opportunities that make their college experiences excellent—as long as they are willing to make use of them.
