3 College Freshman

Greek Life: They are more for academics and community service. They aren't talked about much. The frats are basically the only people who throw parties. (Sororities can't have houses)

Athletics: Temple has such a huge fan base! Also the football team is up and coming so that is a HUGE plus!

5 College Freshman

Overall Experience: I am so happy I am a part of such a diverse, up and coming school!

4 College Freshman

Health & Safety: There's a call booth almost everywhere you go that the police will come in about 30 seconds. Campus is really safe no matter the time, it is off campus that you should be worried about.

3 College Freshman

Overall Experience: Some of the courses the professors are well known and know how to teach. But there are a lot especially in the science department that do not know how to teach and you end up relaying on the curve or no curve and fail. They don't really explain well or teach well honestly

Overall Experience: The career center seems to have a really good grasp at getting students jobs and the research available is great.

3 College Freshman

Campus Housing: It depends on which housing you picked, but i Lived at morgan and it was the newest building that had suites. So it was really expensive and I hated walking to class because of the wind tunnel that the architecture had and whenever it was really cold it was far from my classes. It was also too expensive

Greek Life: The greek life is pretty average, it's not a major club to get into. It's also fairly small since there aren't a lot of greek life here. They throw parties but they're okay. There isn't any housing for greek life if you're in a sorority.

4 College Freshman

Athletics: Everyone is has a lot of school spirit especially when it comes to football and basketball. All the other sports are still shown school spirit but not as much. We have our own club that is based on the football and basketball team to encourage fans and bring support to the teams.

3 College Freshman

Overall Experience: It's really hard to make friends and the advisors aren't helpful. I would change my major if I had the chance and I would try harder to get better roommates.

3 College Freshman

Athletics: Temple football and basketball are huge but they dont force support, you can just tell that they have the support of the students.

4 College Freshman

Overall Experience: Temple has made my first year of college as comfortable as possible There are some rough times since we are located directly in the center of North Philly but I enjoy being here. My school is definitely one of the most diverse schools that I have been to.

4 College Freshman

Campus Housing: A lot of my friends stayed in dorms and had no complaints.

5 College Freshman

Athletics: Temple's football team was very good last year so sports were very exciting.

5 College Freshman

Overall Experience: I love this school. The location is great; even though some parents might be weary of being in the city, there are many opportunities.

4 College Sophomore

Health & Safety: People have been sexually assaulted on campus but the university done take many measures to make sure this is prevented. They also offer a lot of help to victims of sexual assault

3 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: Courses are fine. Professors do not explain things very well. Most depend on power point presentations and read off of their slide shows. I'm perfectly capable of reading on my own and I go to class to learn more intense details material but instead I get mediocre slide shows

4 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: A lot of places in and outside of Philadelphia greatly value a degree from temple. The schools also offers a lot of job fairs to help out students who are trying to enter the work force

4 College Sophomore

Campus Housing: Buildings are great and their locations are very convenient but the pricing is a little steep

4 College Sophomore

Athletics: The teams are fine and the equipment is amazing but it seems that the school pours more money into their teams and football stadiums instead of updating the chemistry and biology labs which have old broken equipment that doesn't work half the time

3 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: The school is a very social environment but some of the professor make it difficult for you to study and appreciate the field you're in. As a biology major I feel that the professor aren't too interested in their students success as they should be.

3 College Sophomore

Health & Safety: The safety on campus is fair. I believe that the school is definitely making pushes and steps in order to increase safety, but with the location and reputation of the school, the school will never be free from danger.

3 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: Courses and professors are difficult or easy based on alot of attributes such as the student, the subject, and the professor him or herself. I think the experience is fair, somewhat difficult, but fair at times.

3 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: Student career prospects are okay. There are many fairs and recruitments at fairs and events, which gives students the opportunity to reach out.

3 College Sophomore

Campus Housing: I personally have never had an opportunity to dorm, but I've always heard that it is good to experience your first year in a dorm because of the unforgettable experience. I've heard many great stories and great things that came out of dorming.

Overall ExperienceWhat's this?

View student contributors

Overall, Temple has its ups and downs, but students seem to love it all the same. On the downside, there can be some head-butts with tyrannical teachers, unfriendly cafeteria workers, and the always-frustrating financial aid office. Housing can cause an enormous hassle, and those commuting have to battle with parking or public transportation. Some people don’t feel as though they are prepared for the real world once they leave campus, but others say it’s been an incredible learning experience. Those students that love their experience at Temple all have their own reasons. Some love the atmosphere and found it to be a lot of fun. Others found it to be a great place to grow up and discover themselves. Lots of students take away more from living in a big city than they do from the University. But one thing it seems most students agree on is that the people at Temple University are what really make it a worthwhile experience.

In general, students coming to Temple have big expectations, from both the school and the city. Those that graduate either feel that Temple met their expectations, or if it didn’t, then it was their own fault for not pursuing more opportunities while they were there. Most students feel that Temple provides them with the opportunities that make their college experiences excellent—as long as they are willing to make use of them.
