Weather: Temple has decent weather. Summer weather lasts a long time. Last year, it stayed in the 70s until about October. The Winters aren't too bad, due to the fact that the snow never sticks and the wind is crazzzzzy. Spring into summer is nice. Such mediocre weather means classes are NEVER cancelled and events are more than likely going to continue which could be both a good or bad thing.

Administration: Well right off the bat I can say that underage drinking and drug use are not tolerated in the least bit. If you get caught doing either, you are forced to take drug abuse courses, fined up to 500 dollars, and given a strike which could lead to permanent expulsion form the school. After two strikes, you're kicked out. But, I will say, its very easy to get around these things. Just be discrete about your activities, and you won't get caught, simple.

Off-Campus Dining: Temple offers lots of off campus eating options, most of which are opened until wee hours of the morning. Though delicious a lot of the options aren't exactly what you'd call healthy. But if health isn't your issue, you'd be happy to discover the numerous amounts of variety that off campus food offers.

Campus Quality: Our faculty is there for the student 100 percent, they are eager to help and want their students to succeed. The professors go out of their way to get to know their students and advise them through their college experience.

Athletics: Temple prides itself on sports. Our school is very sports oriented, especially when there's a game approaching, people go nuts. Owl gear is HUGE, if you're a temple student and don't own some form of Owl gear, you are looked down upon. Regarding involvement, out school has hundreds on intramural sports teams that anyone can join and particpate in. Even intramural games are known to have a lot of hype!! At the end of it all, Temple athletics plays a huge role in our lives as students.

Campus Quality: Temple has a lot to offer for its students and is constantly improving. The health science library is newly renovated and a great study/ work area! The labs are also newly renovated with advanced technology. There is great food options, from city food trucks, to the hospital cafeteria, and little cafes, plus some other options throughout the streets of philadelphia.

Party Scene: There is not much right around Temple and the neighborhood is not great, especially to be out late at night. With that said, there is a lot to do in the city and public transportation is easy! The bars are fun and you can often get student discounts. Stay with a group !

Weather: So far the weather has been nice, with the exception of some rain. I do expect it to get cold in the winter, and we will probably have some snow, which I will not look forward to walking from the bus to classes.

Transportation: I commute to Temple from Woodbourne station and it is convenient. I just wish I knew I there was a shuttle from the station to the school for night classes.

4 College Sophomore

Weather: It does not affect my campus experience that much because I have lived in the area all of my life and am accustomed to the weather patterns. Also, the campus isn't too big, therefore, it isn't a chore to get around campus when it rains, snows, etc.

Technology: There are a lot of computer labs throughout campus, with both Mac and Windows computers, for student preference. However, these computer labs fill up very quickly, especially during the end of the semester. It is not very difficult for a student to find an open computer, but they might have to go to different places to find one. Also, the network reliability and speed is pretty below average in my opinion. It is very slow in the dorm rooms for laptops. also, the printing in the dorm rooms is not reliable. It may behoove some to purchase their own printers. However, the printers in public settings around campus are very reliable and available.

Off-Campus Dining: There are a bunch of spots off campus where students can get food. There are a variety of different unique cart vendors, who supply great food. they are very cost friendly also. There are a few fast food places, such as McDonalds, and other local stores less than a block away from campus. Many of the food stores around the campus are student friendly because they allow students to pay using alternative methods than cash.

Party Scene: The nightlife at Temple is very fun and interesting. Different fraternities host parties on the weekends, for all enrolled students. The bar/ club scene is not as glorified as it may be at other universities, but there is an on campus bar for students of age. Transportation is very useful on campus. Buses will transport people to from places on campus. Also, if someone is off campus, a simple phone call will bring a bus to return them to their homes.

Scholarships: The financial aid that I received as a freshman was decent and it was able to help me pay for my first year of school. However, going into my sophomore year, the tuition rates increased and my financial aid decreased. On another note, the financial office at Temple is extremely helpful.

Guys & Girls: There are beautiful girls with different backgrounds. some of them looks very conservative and some of them just grown up. There are gorgeous boys, specially in business school. They are smart and friendly.

Scholarships: Financial aid at Temple University could be limited depends on your economic status. I received it enough to cover my tuition in previous years, but this semester I did not get enough to cover my tuition. also it is very important that you should see financial aid officer to make sure that every things is going well.

Parking: Parking at Temple University can be a nightmare. students should get to campus at least 40 minutes before your class. be sure not to get parking ticket. I would recommend that if you are running late try to park on temple parking spots and pay $ 13 instead $ 45 or $90 ticket.

4 College Senior

Diversity: There are students of many different races and economic backgrounds. also, there are a lot international students.

3 College Senior

Off-Campus Dining: There is a lot Chinese restaurants; however my favorite restaurant is Vietnamese restaurant.

3 College Sophomore

Technology: Computer labs (specifically the Tech center) are stocked with good computers with the latest technologies and software. Residence hall and other small banks of computers tend to be outdated and slow. Wireless can be slow at peak times, but is generally fairly reliable.

3 College Sophomore

Health & Safety: Despite Temple's location in a dangerous area, I am confident in Temple Police and Security to keep me safe. The police presence on campus is very visible and they have many measures in place not only to protect us, but to teach us how to keep ourselves safe. Though sometimes building guards don't seem to be checking IDs too carefully, I believe they would be able to pick out someone truly suspicious.

3 College Sophomore

Drug Safety: People smoke a lot at Temple, I guess it depends on who you hang out with but you can never fail to find someone smoking either at the dorms or at random parties. I know people take addys when its crunch time, but I've never affiliated with them. We're known to be a party school, so drinking is apparent. Pretty sure Temple has some sort of policy on it, but it happens regardless. People can get bad so I just say be careful wherever you go.

3 College Sophomore

Technology: Temple has a lot of computer labs, heck, we have a a whole building for computers. It's really convenient however get super crowded near midterm/finals week. Around those times its convenient to have your own laptop with you. WiFi is somewhat reliable depending on where you are on campus. Overall, Temple provides their students with a lot of accessible technology but its either a) not always reliable or b) not always attainable.

4 College Sophomore

Party Scene: Best believe there is always a party at Temple. We may be in North Philly, but people know how to turn up. For people underage there's usually a party going on somewhere off campus. (Girls usually get a discounted price and guys, sorry but ya'll have to pay full price depending on the frat house/owner of the house). Transportation typically isn't a problem for those who are just around campus, but I would suggest always travelling with friends.

Administration: Temple has a zero tolerance policy towards the use of underage drinking and drug use. If caught drinking in dorms, students face the risk of having to pay a hefty fine along with the risk of losing their housing. Even off campus, police find random frat/house parties to bust. However Temple police are just there to make sure you're safe, not to arrest you. Just be smart about it and think before you do anything stupid.

Overall ExperienceWhat's this?

View student contributors

Overall, Temple has its ups and downs, but students seem to love it all the same. On the downside, there can be some head-butts with tyrannical teachers, unfriendly cafeteria workers, and the always-frustrating financial aid office. Housing can cause an enormous hassle, and those commuting have to battle with parking or public transportation. Some people don’t feel as though they are prepared for the real world once they leave campus, but others say it’s been an incredible learning experience. Those students that love their experience at Temple all have their own reasons. Some love the atmosphere and found it to be a lot of fun. Others found it to be a great place to grow up and discover themselves. Lots of students take away more from living in a big city than they do from the University. But one thing it seems most students agree on is that the people at Temple University are what really make it a worthwhile experience.

In general, students coming to Temple have big expectations, from both the school and the city. Those that graduate either feel that Temple met their expectations, or if it didn’t, then it was their own fault for not pursuing more opportunities while they were there. Most students feel that Temple provides them with the opportunities that make their college experiences excellent—as long as they are willing to make use of them.
