3 College Freshman

Scholarships: It's okay, it's very expensive and I wish I could have gotten more help.

4 College Freshman

Overall Experience: The degree value from Temple is very high. They are very helpful in career goals, I got an internship freshman year! The best employees recruit from here.

3 College Freshman

Athletics: I don't participate as much in athletics.

4 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: Great options! There should be more student discounts and stay open later.

4 College Freshman

Majors: I love my major, however, it's pretty expensive.

4 College Freshman

Health & Safety: Temple security and police are great, very helpful.

4 College Freshman

Local Area: I like the big city, though sometimes it's not the safest place.

4 College Freshman

Campus Housing: It could be improved, but it's nice.

4 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: As a vegetarian, I often go to a local smoothie restaurant. Meat options are often so I am limited.

College Freshman

Greek Life: I am looking to rush next year, so I do not know much about the internal workings.

College Freshman

Off-Campus Housing: I have yet to look for off-campus housing.

4 College Freshman

Campus Housing: I would recommend the "quiet hours" be enforced.

4 College Freshman

Health & Safety: I have not had a sexual assault within my group of friends, so I do not know much about how the program truly helps people.

3 College Freshman

Scholarships: Financial aid is lacking, but scholarships/grants are somewhat available.

4 College Freshman

Administration: Entering dorms with others is tricky with younger siblings who may not have ID cards yet.

2 College Junior

Local Area: Students tend not to venture too far off-campus. The surrounding neighborhood is not a safe area.

3 College Junior

Health & Safety: I feel safe walking alone on campus most of the time. There are security personnel and the blue light/police phones all over campus.

3 College Junior

Overall Experience: I have had some negative experiences with professors and clinic supervisors. Overall, my courses are challenging and interesting. In such a small major, the variety of courses and flexibility in scheduling is limited, which is to be expected.

1 College Junior

Scholarships: Temple University offers no scholarships to graduate students.

3 College Junior

Administration: I have not experienced any administration issues.

College Junior

Party Scene: As a commuter, I do not attend parties on campus.

4 College Junior

Athletics: Temple students show a great amount of school pride.

College Junior

Campus Housing: I do not live on campus.

College Junior

Off-Campus Dining: I do not dine off-campus. There is a huge variety of choices on-campus and food trucks are everywhere.

4 College Senior

Local Area: Great place for young people, much cheaper living expenses than most cities, has a lot to do for entertainment, but is quite smaller than most of the main American cities.

Overall ExperienceWhat's this?

View student contributors

Overall, Temple has its ups and downs, but students seem to love it all the same. On the downside, there can be some head-butts with tyrannical teachers, unfriendly cafeteria workers, and the always-frustrating financial aid office. Housing can cause an enormous hassle, and those commuting have to battle with parking or public transportation. Some people don’t feel as though they are prepared for the real world once they leave campus, but others say it’s been an incredible learning experience. Those students that love their experience at Temple all have their own reasons. Some love the atmosphere and found it to be a lot of fun. Others found it to be a great place to grow up and discover themselves. Lots of students take away more from living in a big city than they do from the University. But one thing it seems most students agree on is that the people at Temple University are what really make it a worthwhile experience.

In general, students coming to Temple have big expectations, from both the school and the city. Those that graduate either feel that Temple met their expectations, or if it didn’t, then it was their own fault for not pursuing more opportunities while they were there. Most students feel that Temple provides them with the opportunities that make their college experiences excellent—as long as they are willing to make use of them.
