4 College Freshman

Administration: They are very good at following policies.

Scholarships: There are always scholarship options available, however I myself have tried for some and have not received any.

Party Scene: There should be more sober events like free food and fun Friday provided on weekends

Campus Food: There could be more variety, and it would be beneficial to have more places take meal swipes and not just diamond dollars. I would also enjoy healthier options being provided.

Off-Campus Housing: I was able to find off campus living for next year a block away from campus. It is expensive, but much less expensive than living on campus. Many students after their freshman year opt for this option, the whole area surrounding temple is off campus living for students. There are a ton of options and variety.

Off-Campus Dining: Although i live on campus, I do like eating off campus since there are a lot of other options and it is convenient for late hours.

Administration: RA's are always available and on duty for whatever you need. They are very helpful when it comes to advice and helping roommates get along.

2 College Freshman

Scholarships: I do love Temple and that is the school I decided to attend. However, they should have given me more scholarships, other schools offered me more.

Campus Food: Honestly there are a ton of options everywhere around campus, no matter where you are or where you are in class there is food service close to your proximity.

Party Scene: I only know from what I here, I do not party. All I know is that there is heavy drinking

Campus Housing: Living on Campus is comfortable and very secure. Students feel safe, and the rules are enforced well. However, living on campus is very expensive.

Off-Campus Dining: There are a lot of different off campus dining options across broad street.

3 College Junior

Administration: The guest card policy at the dorms is annoying, but necessary due to the neighborhood Temple is in.

4 College Junior

Scholarships: I received about $3000 from temple this past semester and the process was easy.

4 College Junior

Party Scene: I went to a lot of frat and house parties my first two years of college and most of them were a lot of fun. Now that I am 21, the bars around campus such as Draught Horse, Maxi's and Master's are where I usually go now.

Campus Food: There are so many different kinds of food trucks and I've never gotten anything I didn't like.

4 College Junior

Campus Housing: Living on campus is nice because at Temple you are very close to all your classes. Also, I met all of my closest friends living in on campus housing.

3 College Junior

Off-Campus Housing: The school offers very little help in finding off campus housing

Off-Campus Dining: There's a great variety of off campus dining with a wide range of hours of operation.

2 College Junior

Scholarships: There are very few scholarships offered through the school

4 College Junior

Party Scene: There's a lot to do in Tokyo, so it's pretty much nonstop.

2 College Junior

Campus Food: TUJ doesn't have a meal plan. It literally just has a vending machine or two

3 College Junior

Campus Housing: The dorms are nearly 1 hour away from the campus in Tokyo

4 College Junior

Campus Food: The food is great, it just depends where you get it. I stay to the same places I've been going to since I first started there.

Overall ExperienceWhat's this?

View student contributors

Overall, Temple has its ups and downs, but students seem to love it all the same. On the downside, there can be some head-butts with tyrannical teachers, unfriendly cafeteria workers, and the always-frustrating financial aid office. Housing can cause an enormous hassle, and those commuting have to battle with parking or public transportation. Some people don’t feel as though they are prepared for the real world once they leave campus, but others say it’s been an incredible learning experience. Those students that love their experience at Temple all have their own reasons. Some love the atmosphere and found it to be a lot of fun. Others found it to be a great place to grow up and discover themselves. Lots of students take away more from living in a big city than they do from the University. But one thing it seems most students agree on is that the people at Temple University are what really make it a worthwhile experience.

In general, students coming to Temple have big expectations, from both the school and the city. Those that graduate either feel that Temple met their expectations, or if it didn’t, then it was their own fault for not pursuing more opportunities while they were there. Most students feel that Temple provides them with the opportunities that make their college experiences excellent—as long as they are willing to make use of them.
