I had dropped out of a larger university due to both financial reasons and not being to keep up with the program I was in. My academic experience at that location was not the best, to say the least. Being at WCC feels much more comfortable, and is also closer to home and much more affordable. It is also really diverse and has a lot of clubs that appeal to a variety of interests and cultural backgrounds. The professors are great and are there to help you if you seek them out for help, and it is really easy to succeed if you do your work, study hard, manage your time, and seek out the resources that the school provides. I even learned a lot more here in my field of interest (visual/studio art) than at my previous institution! The teachers are really qualified and know how to communicate well with their students.

I find the counselors at Westchester Community College to be very helpful! Any questions that I have had over the years have always been answered to the best of the counselors ability. There are so many little steps that go into transferring from one college to another and I was given good advice throughout the entire process. One thing that is very frustrating at times is waiting to speak with a counselor. Sometimes the wait can be as long as 2 hours depending on when you go. This makes it inconvenient for the student who wants to see a counselor in between classes. Overall, I think the counselors are great and are very helpful.
