Greek Life: ESF is allowed to rush for frats/ sororities. But once they know you go to esf your not very likely to get into esf bc many su kids don't like when we use their stuff and this qualifies as there "stuff". I was in a sorority but it was brand new so I think they were more desperate for members. But everyone I met was very nice to me for the most part. Bottom tier greek people are nice but when you get to the top tier that's when you start to see more of your typical stereotypes.

Greek Life: ESF doesn't really have a Greek life like SU does.

Greek Life: To my knowledge there is only one SUNY ESF fraternity that has special housing, and although its accommodations would in no way be considered "run-down," there is not really anything special about it. Most of the other Greek life organizations devote their time to improving the community, and thus there is no pre-conceived notions of what it means to be in a fraternity or sorority.

College Senior

Greek Life: I do not follow the greek life since I am non-traditional student. also ESF is a small college and does not specifically have a large greek chapter like SU.

Greek Life: SUNY-ESF and Syracuse University are very interconnected institutions. Therefore, while SUNY-ESF does not have greek life we essentially have SU's greek life and that influences our living environment if nothing else.

I have friends in SU sororities (I'm fairly certain ESF students can even be in SU sororities/fraternities) and often see the greek scene out and about at night and while they make a Lot of noise and put on quite a show I don't mind living at a school with such an active greek life at all. I'm not knowledgeable enough of all they do to comment on their value or quality from a community standpoint but they seem to be an interesting if not integral part to the SU experience.
