3 College Senior

Diversity: Lots of students with different origins, more so over at SU, but we have some international students at ESF. Economic status varies a lot. There are a surprising number of people who are completely ignorant about science... which is scary seeing as how we're a science school, but otherwise a great campus.

3 College Sophomore

Diversity: The campus is relatively small and because it is such a specialized institution of environmental education, it probably isn't as diverse a campus as they would like it to be. But slowly, surely, that is changing and as it does so does the mindset of the student body.

I would say that the ESF campus community as a whole is very friendly, and if not wholly accepting than at least open-minded, and definitely close-knit. We all know each-other on a surface level at least if not as friends then as friends of friends, roomates, classmates, coworkers etc. and because of that we tend to look out for one another and possibly be more accepting than would be the case at a larger institution. A small community can also fuel some rumor mills but most students leave the immaturity behind as the years go by and just tend to enjoy each others company and conversation.

5 College Freshman

Diversity: There is a wide range of diversity among the campus. There are students from all over the country, Israel, China, India, and so many other countries.

4 College Freshman

Diversity: There is a large acceptance of diverse cultures, races, orientations and beliefs at SUNY ESF. Currently, there are 3 groups who meet regarding diversity awarenesses and acceptance.

4 College Freshman

Diversity: Good Mix – lots of students from all over. lots of international students, like 20% of the student body (surprising) almost equal amount of blacks and whites. Mexicans and Indians are less. I didnt notice any problems with this.
